Vale do Rio Ferreira - Ferreira River Valley

in Worldmappin9 months ago
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

Vale do Rio Ferreira.jpg

We continue our tour through the Serras do Porto.
After passing the village of Couce, we continued our walk towards the river and the surrounding forest. In the last post I forgot to mention that a village has only 12 inhabitants, who chose to stay here instead of moving to the nearest city. In fact, being able to wake up here is a privilege (or at least I consider it to be), as we are close to everything but isolated in the middle of nature.

The recovery that has been carried out in the surrounding area is impressive and I think the only thing missing for anyone passing by is a small tavern or coffee. Many years ago, we came here in the afternoon to launch. Yes, we are and were those people who ran errands to eat.
Every weekend there are people doing mountain biking, hiking and motorbike rides. We are currently waiting, but I hope that soon we can come by bike. We went down an entire street in parallel (which was difficult to climb later :-) ) and went to the bridge that passes over the river. We arrived there, we can choose to go left or right, but we heard a noise that made us turn right.

At the bottom we saw some goats and goats that we watched, but the little one's curiosity and love for animals meant we went right there to feed them (with fruit). We sponsored some of them and we share the names: Oscar, Iva and Amélia. Very friendly, they approached us and, leaning against the hammock, asked for little feasts and everyone in the room ate the fruit we brought. According to my daughter, Óscar really liked me and, lying on the green grass, he winked at me. As you can imagine, this repair gave rise to a lot of laughs.

Nearby, I fixed a swing in the tree with the following inscription "Nature in Command". And in fact if we think about it, the same thing makes perfect sense. I love riding a swing, I've always liked it since I was little and I could spend hours sitting there facing the river contemplating nature.
The motorbikes are heard throughout and suddenly a group comes together and from their conversation, we realize that we have resorted to this place for a few hours of leisure.

We followed the river bank, but first reversed gears to the left side of the bridge. There are no longer any inhabitants on this side of the bank, but it is still possible to find ruins of houses that were once someone's home and a small river beach.
We stopped at this place again to teach the little one how to do something that her father and I did when she was her age. We collected some rounded stones (pebbles) and showed how to make the stones jump in the water. It's amazing how we didn't forget and how she quickly got the hang of it and was better than us.

These hours spent here away from screens, noise and people allow us to reconnect, talk, laugh and play, almost as if time stopped for that little bit.
We really hope that she cherishes all those little things we talked to her about and I hope that those memories never fail me.

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health
