IGREJA.jpg

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

As I said, I still have a little more to show about the city of Valongo. After passing through the center, we headed towards the Main Church and found another very picturesque square where Santa Claus's house was located.

PT

The square is surrounded by some restaurants and some more shops.
From the trees, drops of light appeared and the facades maintained the same lighting as the others seen on the main avenue. I felt like staying there for a while on the available benches, but as I mentioned before, the cold was bitter and the only way it could be tolerated was by moving.

PT

We continued and found the Paupério Biscuit Factory. It is the oldest in Portugal, created in 1874 and continues to operate, being known for its famous biscuits, known in many countries such as the United States or Brazil. The cookies are handcrafted and all are checked in detail before being packaged. Nothing goes to waste, and those that don't go into cans are sold in bulk every day in the morning in kg bags.
The smell is unmistakable and the factory is open for visits by appointment.
If you ever go to Valongo or are nearby, don't miss the opportunity to visit this national pearl and pick up some cookies to enjoy.

On this same street there is a flower shop that decorates its window every year with great care and in a different way. Everything is thought of down to the smallest detail and every detail captures the attention of whoever passes by. I can't imagine how much work it must take to prepare something like this and that's why I end up feeling a certain sadness when the holiday season ends.
As we go up the street we can see the Main Church which dates back to 1794 and which, instead of being decorated with lights, had the figures of Joseph and Mary and the baby Jesus on straws projected onto it.

Right next door we can find the Chapel of Senhor dos Passos and there the nativity scene was set up with very simple figures, a straw roof and some green leaves at the back. Images alluding to the scouts were also placed (which you will only be able to see if you enlarge the photo).
It was a really beautiful ride and I'm curious to see what will be new next year.

The houses, restaurants, stores and churches look so beautiful, the lights give an incredible brightness and highlight the details in its structure, too bad the cold is so intense and you can not stop any longer.

Hello @noalys! I belive that every place looks more pretty with the Christmas lights 😊 Thank U for stopping by 😊

In a certain way the towns of Portugal are very similar to the towns here in Venezuela, and it is clear because here there has been a lot of influence from Portugal, even here there is still an important population coming from Portugal.

Hello @wilfredocav! I have a friend from elementary school that is from Venezuela and we have some members of the family that where living in your country many years ago. Thanks for stopping by😊
