It's been a while since I've posted anything in my series about Krakow churches, so since I'm returning to the series, it's worth starting with something extra, and without a doubt one of the most recognizable churches is the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. There's no tourist who's ever been to Krakow who hasn't seen this church, and that's all because it's located on Grodzka Street, the most popular street in Krakow. The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul is distinguished by the fact that it was the first building of Baroque architecture in Krakow, and at the same time one of the first buildings of this type in Poland. The building was consecrated on July 8, 1635, and its founder was King Sigismund III Vasa. The temple was handed over to the Jesuit order, which was developing very dynamically in Europe at that time. The most characteristic element of the temple is its facade covered with dolomite, which in its form refers to the Roman Jesuit church Il Gesù in Rome. On the church facade, there are statues of Jesuit saints in niches: St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, St. Aloysius Gonzaga and St. Stanislaus Kostka. The emblem of the Jesuit order is placed above the main portal, and the facade is crowned by the coat of arms of King Sigismund III (an image of an Eagle with a Sheaf on its chest). The temple fence, designed by Kacper Bażanka and made in 1722 by sculptor Dawid Heel, also makes a huge impression. The fence is crowned with sculptures of apostles made of Pińczów limestone. Unfortunately, the material from which the sculptures were made was not very durable, so the original sculptures were smudged due to acid rain. The details of the apostles' faces disappeared, which is why a decision was made to make new sculptures faithfully reflecting the appearance of the originals. In order to maintain the original appearance, the same material was even used to make the apostle figures, which unfortunately allows us to assume that our great-grandchildren will have to renovate them again.
In my opinion, the biggest surprise that can be found inside the church is the longest Foucault pendulum in Poland. The 46.5-meter pendulum is released every Thursday and in its natural way proves the rotation of the earth.
Under the floor of the church there are crypts in which Fr. Piotr Skarga, Bishop Andrzej Trzebicki and Witold Szeliga Bieliński were buried. Since 2010, a decision was made to create a New National Pantheon in the crypts. To this day, the following have been buried in the crypt: Sławomir Mrożek, Karol Olszewski, Tadeusz Pieronek, Adam Zagajewski and, last of all, Krzysztof Penderecki.

Wow the photos are really beautiful ❤️
Looks like some really nice pictures
Krakow churches seem a bit similar to Anglican churches
Do you feel the same way too?
Old churches are always pleasant to watch as architecture
