Learn Fine Arts at the Indonesian Ceramic Museum

in Worldmappin2 years ago (edited)
Did you know that Indonesia has many museums. One of the interesting museums is the fine arts and ceramics museum. This museum is located in West Jakarta, Indonesia. This museum is very nice. The place is nice, clean and quiet. There is a modern education concept here. Although blocked by the pandemic, this museum still presents the side of modernity. There is an audiovisual room, then digital images that will help visitors understand the history of ceramics and fine art in the museum.

By the way, I forgot to ask how you are. I hope you're okay. I visited this place earlier this month. Traveling is one of my monthly agendas that I have to do. I learned a lot from this museum. The museum is a center for aesthetic preservation in Indonesia. It has even become an international cultural art tour. I am proud to visit this place.

Fine Art Collection in this place

This place has a collection of up to 500 works of art exhibited from various techniques. Starting from sculpture, wood, graphics, sketches and batik painting. Some of the paintings on display have their own history in Indonesia. Like the works of Hendra Gunawan, Raden Saleh, Dullah and Affandi. This place holds a lot of history. Several places during the visit made my skin crawl. In addition to the traditional Balinese statues, it made me unable to linger looking at this statue. There is a statue that scares me. I dare not take pictures.

Ceramic Collection in this place

The Ceramics section is the largest collection in this museum. There are ceramics from several regions in Indonesia. In fact, some ceramics come from the royal period in Indonesia. Long enough, right? There is great historical value and stupidity when I see it. In fact, ceramics from the Majapahit kingdom have various functions. There are even ceramics from China, Japan, Thailand to Europe as well.

I'm not sure what the history is. Maybe brought by people who came to Indonesia. The collection of ceramics dates from the 16th to the 20th centuries. In fact, the collection of ceramics consists of shipwrecks that washed ashore from Indonesian waters. Fine arts and ceramics have become one of Indonesia's treasures.

History this Building

This building was built by the Dutch government as a high court institution in 1870. No wonder this building is different from other buildings around this place. This is a very luxurious and dignified place, indicating that it was the Supreme Court during the Dutch occupation. This place has the name raan van justite. During the Japanese rule, this place became a military dormitory.

It wasn't until 1973 that the site was turned into a Jakarta history and museum service. In 1976, the new site became the art center in Indonesia. A year later, this place is filled with other works of art. Then, in 1990 it became the official museum of sculpture and ceramics. I hope this place can last long enough.
