Hi everybody. How are you? I hope you're okay. Some of my friends are Covid Patients at this time. I hope you are well now. I also wish you happiness. I have opened some photo files with my friends. i found photos if i ever visit this museum. But since covid entered Indonesia in 2020, this place is closed. Luckily, my friends still have documentation about this place.
I want to tell you this place to tell you where the Museum tells you about the development of Catholicism in Indonesia. There are many collections of cardinals or popes in this place. This place is called the Jakarta Cathedral Museum. This place is located in Central Jakarta, Indonesia. You don't have to worry about visiting this place. In Jakarta, this place is easy to find.
This place is close to the Istiqlal mosque. In addition to the museum, there is a very very large Catholic Church called the Jakarta Cathedral church. So, this museum is right in a big church. The interesting thing about this place is the architecture of this place, we can feel the building with European stylists in this place. This is inseparable from the architecture of this place. The architect who built this place was Father Antonius Dijkmans.
Construction of the museum began in 1891. Of course, the construction of the church first. The construction of the museum was stopped. I'm sorry to hear that. Then continued by Engineer M.J Hulswit. Construction of this place was completed in 1901. The establishment of the museum was started by the head priest of the cathedral, Father Rudolf Kurris. Only on April 28, 1991, was inaugurated as a museum by Mgr Julius Darmaatmadja.
What else can you find in this place? Before I explain further, I want to tell you that this place is on the side of the Jakarta Cathedral Church. For those of you who want to visit this place, you have to go through the church entrance. Upon entering this museum room, the first room of this museum tells the story of the archdiocese in Jakarta. There are photos and histories of pastor. From then until now. In this room, there is a history of Catholicism in Indonesia.
The first Catholic in Larantuka, Flores. This island is often considered the Vatican of Indonesia, especially by Catholics in Indonesia. I want to visit. The next room is a collection of objects from the cathedral church. There are sacred vessels and bricks used to build the cathedral church in 1810. Oh, yes, I must say that church building is very old. The church was built before the construction of the museum.
This place is historical in Indonesia. There is one more room that has become very historic in Indonesia. I'll tell you next. You can find sacred objects that the Pope gave during a visit to Jakarta. There are many items used by the Cardinals in this place. Including you can find photos of the cardinals in the line of duty. We can also study the history of the Dutch missionaries. They spread Catholicism in Indonesia.
There is a very historical object. I'm quite amazed by it. There is an ancient cathedral journal which lists the congregations who were baptized at the beginning of the cathedral's construction. In addition, there is a photo of the cathedral building. There are objects given by the Pope, namely the Chalice and Patena. Two of them were given by Pope John Paul II (in Indonesia we call Paus Yohanes Paulus II ) to visit Jakarta Cathedral Church in 1989. Another room that my friends and I visited was the theater room. There is a story in this place.
This place tells of several events. Like the roof of the church that collapsed in 1890. As for the theater room, I didn't watch the show at that time. Just then, I went to a room called the Past Zone. In this room, I saw statue of Mother Maria given a bun by Pastor Reksaatmadja in 1930. I went to a room called the Zone of Martyrdom and Relics. This room is a memory of the Pope who served at the Jakarta Cathedral Church.
Last time I visited the Liturgical Zone. This room contains a collection of clothes worn by the Pope. There is a rule when the Pope wears this outfit. Another thing that makes love Indonesia even more is that there is history in this place. In this place, I witnessed the Second Indonesian Youth Congress on 27 October 1928. I am very proud of this place. With this history, it shows that all youth with various religious backgrounds are determined for an independent Indonesia
