I have already been to Porto once before, however, it was a few years ago and I had different things planned for my second visit. The focus was on enjoying the weather and the amazing food. The main reason for travelling to Porto again was that me and my brothers met my parents there to celebrate my dad’s birthday.
I flew with one of my brothers from Dortmund to Porto on Wednesday. My other brother was flying from Berlin on Friday. We stayed at a nice apartment by Marriott. It was a great space and it had everything we needed.
After arriving on Wednesday, me and my brother met with some friends that were in Porto as well. This was not planned beforehand and was just a funny coincidence that they were in Porto. We went to a restaurant called ONZE and enjoyed our first dinner.
The ceviche tasted amazing, and I recommend it to anyone! Afterwards we just went to bed to be well rested for our first day in Porto.
Since we did not have hotel breakfast, we went for a coffee and something to eat after getting up. The place was called Hakko and it was my favorite spot for breakfast and brunch!

Now it was time for some walking and here are my impressions of this late morning in Porto:
When I said this trip was all about food, I was not lying! We also got a snack at another place:
I do not know the name of it anymore and this might be because it was mediocre. The dinner was way better, and it was the first time meeting our parents in Porto. The restaurant Cafeina was a great location, and the food was awesome, too. Scallops as an appetizer and beef wellington as the main course. My dad’s beef carpaccio looked great as well.
This was a good start to my vacation and the next day my other brother arrived. There will be two more posts about Porto!
Stay tuned,
Nils
