Cienfuegos, a pearl on the south coast of Cuba, unfolds its charm from the very moment it is stepped on its ground. Founded in 1819 by French settlers, the city bears with it the imprint of European elegance and Caribbean vitality and is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Cuba.
One of its most famous attractions is the Bay of Cienfuegos, with its serenity, spaciousness and beauty, it is a silent witness to the history that has shaped the city. Its waters have witnessed trade, naval battles and the constant flow of daily life. A city with that beautiful boardwalk bordered by palm trees is always a pleasure to visit.
Walking along the boulebard of Cienfuegos is immersing yourself in the daily life of the city, this walk surrounded by shops and cleaning takes us to José Martí Park, the pulsating heart of the city, it is a space where history, culture and social life converge. The imposing monument to José Martí, Cuban national hero, dominates the landscape, while locals and tourists enjoy the shade of lush trees and mix in lively talks. Surrounded by emblematic buildings such as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and the Government Palace, José Martí Park is a refuge of tranquility and vitality at the same time.
The Tomás Terry Theater, erected in 1889, is a tangible testimony of the cultural richness that defines Cienfuegos. Its neoclassical facade, with ornamental details that evoke the Belle Époque, invites visitors to explore an interior that dazzles with its opulence. The intricate details on its balconies and the imposing hand-painted dome transport those who cross their doors to an era of theatrical splendor.
And you can not miss to visit the statue of one of the most important figures of Cuban music, symbol of this great city that is our singer Beni More, located on the Paseo del Prado was inaugurated in 2004, made in real size, of bronze, it is camouflaged as one more passer-by of this wonderful walk.
Thus, between the elegance of the Tomás Terry Theater, the bustle of the boulevard, the serenity of the bay and the vitality of the José Martí Park, the cleanliness of its streets, Cienfuegos reveals itself as a cultural and architectural treasure in the Cuban heritage. With all these qualities, this city, where the past and the present converge in a harmonious embrace, invites you to immerse yourself in its cobbled alleys of another century and discover the magic that makes it unique. I invite you to visit and get to know this pearl and I say goodbye with this phrase from a song by Beni More: Cienfuegos is the City that I like the most!
