We had just picked up the only parkrun we had not done on the Sunshine Coast which is about a hour and half north of Brisbane. There are lots of great beaches on the Sunshine Coast and Moffat is one of my favourites on the southern end of this 60 stretch of coast line. It is a little bit quieter than some of the more famous places but you still have to be early to get a car park on a nice day.
This beach side suburb just north of Caloundra was named after James Campbell Moffat a chemist from Brisbane, just imagine being able to buy 20 acres of undeveloped beach front land in 1882. I am sure it was not easy getting enough money even back then and the trying to build on it but how things have changed with a couple of cranes now building apartment blocks on the sky line.
They would have some great views from these beach front apartments.
They have a made a 4km out and back trail along the Coastal pathway between Dicky Beach and Moffat Heads. I will have to try it out one day.
The surf themed local play ground and shops were very neat and tidy.
Tooway Creek and Lake empties into the ocean cutting its own path when they get a lot of rain or maybe it fills up on high tide and empties again on low tide.
The local volunteer Life savers having a bit of fun patrolling the beach.
We had a short walk and swim to cool off and relax after the hot and sweaty parkrun at Harmony Boulevard.
