The concrete statue at Wyndham of an over sized Salt Water Crocodile just before we left Western Australia and drove into The Northern Territory.
Mataranka thermal pools
Canoeing Katherine George
There are lots of Gorges in the Catherine system. We hired a canoe for two days and then set about paddling up the gorge. There was a bit of rock scrabling and dragging of the canoe over some dry spots we had it through about five different gorge. Before setting up a bit of a camp and staying over night before heading back the next day.
Edith falls. Probably the best swimming hole we came across on the entire trip.
Twin Fall Kakadu. Dry season is the easy and most pleasant time to travel in the Northern Territory but that did mean where was not much water following at any of the waterfalls.
We got around and visited some of the Aboriginal rock art, read and learned some of there dreamtime stories.
Maguk George and Water Falls
Nanguluwurr Aboriginal rock art. Kakadu National Park.
Nabulwinjbulwinj a bad spirit from Aboriginal Dream time mythology at the Anbangbang gallery Kakadu National Park.
Ubirr Lookout
A big salt water crocodile skeleton in the tourist information centre.
A small Poinciana flame tree.
We had a few of the afternoon thunder storms that the northern territory is famous for, you could see them building after a hot humid day then it would hammer wind and rain for a while before completely vanishing.
The Yellow water, A shame some of my old photo have turned a bit yellow and marked.
A Salt Crocodile swimming on an early morning Yellow Water Cruise.
That's it for my early 1990 road trip around Australia, I will have to see what else I can find of my travels
