My father's from Bohol, so visiting the Chocolate Hills has always been on my list. Finally, in 2020, we made it. It was an amazing trip, filled with stunning views and memorable moments.

We arrived in Bohol and headed straight for the Chocolate Hills . I'd seen pictures, but nothing prepared me for the real thing. Hundreds of grassy mounds stretched as far as the eye could see, their shapes rounded and unique. It was truly breathtaking.

The view from the main viewing point was incredible, but to get a really satisfying look, you have to climb. There are several viewpoints offering different perspectives, and each one is worth the effort. From up high, the hills looked like giant chocolate kisses scattered across the landscape – hence the name, of course. The scale was amazing; it felt like I was looking at a miniature world. The green hills were vibrant and lush, a stark contrast to the brown they turn during the dry season. I imagined what it would look like then, a sea of chocolate.

After taking in the Chocolate Hills , we went to see the tarsiers. These tiny primates are so cute! Unfortunately, I didn't have my own phone back then, and we were only using my mom's digital camera, so I couldn't get any pictures. I remember them being incredibly small and having huge eyes. They were so delicate and fascinating. Our 2020 trip was cut short, but it left a lasting impression. We had planned to go back to Bohol in 2021, but the pandemic put a stop to our plans. It was disappointing, but safety comes first.

I'm really looking forward to another visit to Bohol. There's so much more to explore. I want to see more of the island's natural beauty and experience its rich culture. I'm eager to revisit the Chocolate Hills and see them in their "chocolate" form during the dry season. I also want to take better photos this time! This time, I'll be sure to bring my own camera.
Besides the Chocolate Hills and tarsiers, we also saw Bohol's famous man-made forest. Rows upon rows of tall trees lined the road, creating a cool, shady tunnel. It was a unique experience driving through it, feeling surrounded by nature. The air felt different, cleaner, and cooler. It was a peaceful and beautiful sight, a testament to the island's commitment to environmental conservation.

The trip to Bohol in 2020 was a highlight. The Chocolate Hills were even more spectacular than I'd imagined, and seeing the tarsiers was a special experience. Though the pandemic prevented our return in 2021, the memory of our adventure fuels my desire to go back. Bohol is a place that stays with you, a place I'll always cherish. I can't wait to return and explore more of what this beautiful island has to offer. Chocolate Hills , the tarsiers, the man-made forest – they're all waiting for me, and I'm counting down the days until I can see them again. This time, I'll be ready with my camera, ready to capture every moment, every breathtaking view, every unforgettable experience.
