The largest Maitreya Buddha statue in Southeast Asia

If you haven't been, it will lead you to a very beautiful place. It is a temple with the largest Maitreya Buddha statue in Southeast Asia. The temple named Big Phat Pagoda is located on Cam mountain in An Giang province.

Big Buddha Temple was built in 1912 on a large plot of land on Cam mountain. Do you know why the pagoda is called Big Buddha Temple? Because the pagoda has many large and small statues, the name is so that it can be distinguished from other pagodas. Especially, the pagoda has the largest Maitreya Buddha statue in the area, the statue is 33.6m high and weighs more than 600 tons. The statue has been listed as 1 of 14 Buddhist records in Vietnam. The statue has a gentle face, an endearing smile, and a friendly, compassionate expression that helps all sentient beings.

The two sides of the Maitreya Buddha statue are statues of two dragons, meticulously sculpted. At the foot of the statue is a cellar, where the artifacts of the temple will be kept. But now the workers have not finished the construction, so inside the tunnel, visitors can only see huge blocks of stone being hewn and construction kits everywhere.

To the left of the Maitreya Buddha statue there is a way up to visit the top, but now the statue is still under repair so I can't go up to visit. By the side of this path grow a lot of strange flowers, flowers that I don't know the names of but they are very beautiful. I have taken some pictures of the flowers for you to admire.

From a distance, the temple looks like a palace with a tiled roof, bearing bold Chinese imperial architecture. There are also many different large and small statues and many other unique works. Tourists not only come here to visit one of the famous works of An Giang province but also come to this temple for pilgrimage.

There are many souvenirs around the temple. The stalls surround the temple and sell a variety of items such as hats, pictures, calendars, statues,... and all of them take pictures of the big buddha temple and the Maitreya Buddha statue. Everyone here is very friendly, you can see and touch the objects without buying them.

The temple is surrounded with large trees. From a distance you will see a very big temple, especially Maitreya Buddha statues. In the middle is Lake Thuy Liem, this lake has a lot of fish and they are very friendly. Every time it comes to the occasion, people often release fish in the lake. Visitors and people here often give fish eat so every time you throw the food into the lake, the fish will broil and wait for your food.

I am very happy to have seen the biggest Maitreya Buddha in Southeast Asia. If you are here, you will be surprised with its beauty.
