Jerez is is a peaceful city in Cádiz municipality with long traditions of Sherry production. The railway station has some nice architecture, and many other buildings have a long history too.
The travel timing could have been better, since it was cloudy and rainy for a week. There were some decent cheap hotels to choose from, so did not mind spend some time indoors for a change.
The town is known from the dancing horses, with weekly shows. There are some interesting local foods to try out too, too bad there are no speciality coffee shops open.
Walking through the narrow one-way streets it is easy to remember being in Andalucia. Typical architecture and people talking with an interesting dialect.
The typical Spanish statue of a riding historical figure is located on the main square along with some wine barrels. Some history is still to be seen, even the modernization is rapid in Spain also.
About half of the population is still walking with masks outside, so far have been happy about not needing a health certificate to use services. Freedom is the most important thing in life, after all.
Some stray cats can be seen around the town near abandoned lots and small parks. Cat pictures are not the easiest to catch, since many wild animals tend to run away from humans.
It is nice to just walk around aimlessly, when one does not have a destination, one cannot get lost. Some of the best spots are away from normal tourist attractions, so following the intuition can lead to enjoyable adventures.
