That is some castle wall! I do like the bit that blends into the rock as well, it is quite reminiscent of Edinburgh castle in that respect. They really did an awesome job with the cathedral and the staircase, looks an stunning view!
With the funky bars and shops it is probably the kind of place that me and the missus would have loved to have visited pre-kids.
I've never been to Edinburgh but would love to go. I hear it's a really cool city.
Yeah churches are often situated at the end of a main street it seems in such a way that they can be seen from a far distance. I'm sure that a lot of towns in the past would have been built around the church and or the castle if it had one. Those would be the two main buildings in any city back then. The two heads of power.
Edinburgh is very cool. The castle especially is quite the sight and the surrounding streets are very oldtown and atmospheric.
Yes, they were indeed built that way. Have you been to York? The cathedral there is a fabulous thing.
It sounds very nice.
I haven't been to anywhere in the UK yet. Covid hit shortly after we arrived in France and the UK is especially challenging with our dog. It's not just the flight, dogs aren't allowed on the eurostar either because my understanding is that dogs need to be quarantined to ensure that rabies doesn't cross to the island. We may go to the UK this year if we can get a pet sitter. But I'm not 100% sure yet
Oh that's right, the UK is awful for quarantine is animals and transporting pets in general. I hope you get a petsitter and get a chance to tour about!
Yeah I hope so. It might work out 🤞
