Hi, everyone it's livinguktaiwan. I'm currently in Antarctica and the scenery you see behind me is real, it's not something that that I downloaded from the internet.
This has been on my bucket list since last year, so I'm so glad that I finally made it here. Today we're at a place called the Lamaire channel. It's also called the Kodak Gap because it's so beautiful.

Whenever we go out we need to wrap up well because it's about 0° or sometime minus here. So I'm wrapped up in three layers. Nice and warm.

I've got some great content to share with you, so I'm going to share some videos for you first as a taster. And when I get home I'm going to share more content with you. I hope you like it.
I'll see you soon. Bye.

I am very impressed and at the same time very happy to know that in some way I know a person who has been to Antarctica hahaha, wow, that video really made my night. It is a place that few people will be able to see up close, so I hope that this adventure continues and also that you give us a little more content from that area of the world. A warm hug for you!...

There's been a few people on Hive who's been before, but most from the earlier days.
It's a tricky thing trying to balance preserving the region and not over tourism. Hopefully we'll continue to get it right

No way. You just broke the internet....well Hive at least! Penguins, Antarctica, Sea Lions....incredible. I'm lost for words. What a simply beautiful and unspoiled place. My jealously level just rocketed up to expert!
Keep the videos coming, you're doing a great presenting job!
Stay safe and happy :-)
Hahaha!! It's so beautiful here I had to share, even though uploading isn't the easiest. I might do a photo dump in a few days time because I took so many, too stunning not to share
That would be a great, just dump all the photos. I reckon that even your literary skills won't be able to adequately describe them!
By the way, you're rocking that green jacket :-)
All we need now are a few whales!
Like this?😊. It's quite difficult to get a good photo but we saw a lot the other day

I felt cold just looking at the photos :)) I'm eagerly awaiting the other posts. I think it's an exciting moment for you 🙂
It's certainly a very exciting trip for me. The best in all my travels so far, not sure how I'm going to top this
A sight I've only seen in annual calendars ❤️
I'm glad to see you finally reached your goal list. You did it!
It's been a long wait for this trip, I'm so glad I made it at last
My closest comparable experience was my working trip to Juneau Alaska in 2008. At the Hubbard glacier watching a 500+ ton chunk of glacier sheer off into the icy bay which racked the big cruise ship I was on.
Will the North pole be your next adventure? @livinguktaiwan

Gee! That sounds epic. Hope there was no major damage. We saw a little avalanche, nothing that would do any harm but it was still awesome to see it happening, everything was in slow motion
You can hear it like a huge CRACK!
Just before a giant breaks away and falls into the bay. We're far from the danger zone but close enough to be awed by the powerful glacial action.
Omg! I can imagine watching it. We saw a little one, everything was in slow motion, so surreal
This was mid July, the summer there.
Glacial activity is usually at its greatest giving cruise line passengers a thrill to see it for themselves. The Hubbard Glacier is a regular stop for every cruise ship traveling the Alaskan pan handle. Ketchecan and Skagway are also featured stops on that route.
How wonderful! It must feel amazing to be in such a wild place. Icebergs scare me a little but I guess you forget that when you see the penguins so close. They are very funny. And the last views... take your breath away!
!PIMP
The tip of the iceberg has a totally different meaning for me now, we saw some massive ones today. The wildlife was very interesting, but sometimes we had to look hard for them, like for the seals, and particularly the whales
Wow! What spectacular photos! It must be exciting to be there! We hope to see more of this incredible trip soon. Enjoy yourself! 🤗
You'll definitely be seeing more from my trip, it's so beautiful here!
No wonder you came onto Discord saying you didn't have the best Internet connection for uploading a video! I had no clue where you were! LOL! The scenery in your video is astounding! Definitely anxious to see/hear more about this amazing trip!
We're on starlink here (the best thing from EL!!!), so I'm not sure if it's a network or dapp issue. I tried both the 3speak app and the web version, and both failed.
I've been taking so many photos and videos, just can't get enough if it!
That's so cool!!! I mean incredible! I never thought you could go to Antarctica as a tourist (blaming myself for lack of research)! The penguins are so cute!! Oh my! What a view! I'm so jealous so I added it to my bucketlist just now! 😅
I noticed you all wore the same colored jackets. Is it part of the package?
The parka is part of the tour package, many cruise companies give you one ( we paid thru the fee 😉). Keeps people nice and warm and also easier for the expedition team to see us and make sure no one is left on land.
Over 100k people visit Antarctica every year during the four months summer season. They manage it very well so you won't be on land with other people as each landing is limited to 100 people at time.
Ohhh! That's really a good info! Thanks for sharing! I should check how to get there. 😅
Loverly, bet you did't find a suitable spot for one of the the stickers?
Yeah, a tad difficult here to stick anything here 😜
LOL Yup I guess so,
I am so glad you have made it there to live this wonderful experience!! 😍
I waited so long this, can't believe I'm finally here 😊
Wow, the Lemaire Channel looks absolutely stunning! Can’t wait to see more of your Antarctic adventures once you are back. Enjoy this experience at the maximum!!
I'm enjoying every moment of my time, best holiday ever!!
I need to KNOW EVERYTHING!
It's exciting isn't, even just looking at it 😄
I'm in the World Navigator by Atlas Ocean Voyage, and we are at the Antarctica peninsula. The furthest south we went was the Lemaire at 65 degrees. Haven't met any Kiwis, it's predominantly Americans and about 10% Chinese.
We're day 8 of the 12 day cruise. One more day in the Antarctica, then two days to cross the infamous Drake passage before we alight the next morning. Am enjoying the last couple of days now 🙂
Cherish all those moments... I've never been, but I know it's an out-of-this-world, unique experience.
Ok so this was the surprise you were talking about... OMG!!! It's so beautiful, and I must say it's a lifetime wonderful experience... Can't wait to see more beautiful posts and photographs... Love it...
Yes. This is it! Had it planned for a whole year, it's been a long wait.
Totally worth it...
WOW, just wow. I lost all the words I wanted to write. That trip must be a wish come true. 🥰😍
Definitely top of my bucket list, and yes, a wish come true
You literally went to the end of the world! Luckily, you didn't pass the ice and fell from the world... 😜
Stunning photos and a great video! As it's now summer there, do you plan to go in winter, to have the "full experience"? 😃
Send greetings to your other half!!! 🍻
Not quite the end of the world, but a lot near to it
We have 22 hours of daylight now, don't think I can manage the reverse 😬
I got spoiled here, so I can't stand a day without the sun, and can't imagine how it would be without daylight! I suppose the sun goes down in March, and comes out in September... lol... 😃
Wow, that looks pretty amazing! I know about having to wrap up. It was -15 C when I drove into work this morning. It actually looks kind of warm and sunny there! 0 isn't too bad as long as there is no wind.
You're a lot colder than us here!!
The other day the sun was out and it was so hot, I had to take off my parka outside. And I got a tan, even when I put on suncream
Crazy to think isn't it?!
Wow, that is pretty crazy! I guess it is summer down there right now though isn't it?
Wow, what a trip! Can't wait to hear more about it. 0° actually isn't too bad. I thought that it would be colder there. Or is it summer in Antarctica?
Its currently -11°C in the part of Canada that im from lol
Those photos are stunning. I look forward to seeing more. Have fun!
It's summer here, but we're at the antartica peninsula tip hence fairly warm. It gets colder further down south. A Canadian couple was saying yesterday it's much colder at home from where they're from.
Btw. I didn't realise it gets that cold in Canada. You're Toronto, right?
Oh yeah. It gets cold here, even in Southern Ontario. When its really bad we can get down to -20° and with the windchill like -25. Up north and other provinces can get a lot colder than that.
I'm not in Toronto but relatively close. Like a 1.5 hour drive away
Awesome! It has been on my bucket list for years. You got to pin Antarctica, how cool is that!?!!? I look forward to more posts! YAY.
I really hope you get to come Sara, you'll absolutely love it!!!
Wow! I'd love to go there! Hope you are enjoying it!
It's the trip of my lifetime, best holiday ever!
Wow, wow....que belleza!!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful and incredible adventure you're living. You must be overjoyed to have made it to such an amazing place. The photos and the video truly capture the breathtaking landscape, thank you so much for that. I look forward to your next post so I can continue to be amazed. Un cálido abrazo 🤗.
It's so unbelievable to be here, totally out of the world. The experience is lovely as I'd everything else on the cruise
Que bueno que así sea!! Un 🤗
OMG YOU MADE IT THERE!! It's summer there now by the way, so it's "warm" in theory 😄
Anyway it's all fake. That's obviously somewhere in Scotland or a green screen. Everyone knows that the earth is flat and "Antartica" is an ice wall to keep the water in. 🙄
Haha! You see how easy it's to make a fake post on Hive 😉😜
What a beautiful video you've shared with us! The white landscapes of snow and ice reveal a way of life we don't know and that many of us would love to experience. Thank you for giving us a glimpse into this place so many dream of; it must have been a great adventure for you.
Not many get to come here, so I feel very privileged to visit Antarctica
Omg that's a bucketlist of mine too ! Congrats on doing it it must have been amazing :)
Absolutely, we're very lucky to get great weather as well
Absolutely wonderful! I'm happy for you, those landscapes look incredible ❤️.
I can't believe I'm finally here. It seems not that long ago I asked you about it
Ooo too cold for me! It's good to keep striking off those bucket list items! What a way to do it. Enjoy!
!ALIVE
It was fine. On a couple of days it was so hot I was sweating and even got sunburnt!
Oh yes, the sun can be very powerful in those conditions.
!ALIVE
Nice reflections on the calm water , nice weather also to go out on a trip , lovely light for photography and video .
try to bring some snow to europe for a white Christmas ;)
Thank you for sharing this .

This is a mecca for photographers, I bet you'll love it here
I think I will be out of my words after my arrival to such an insanely beautiful place with the picturesquely surrounding! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your trip!
It's truly breathtaking and unbelievable at times
Wow, my friend, that place is splendid! What a beautiful sight! Contemplating the beauty and grandeur of nature is priceless. Blessings.
Yes, the surroundings are so beautiful and changes so quick all the time
Oh wow, the still background does look like wallpaper in the video as well.
Enjoy your times there.
Thanks. Now I have a lot of new screensavers
Amazing views, and it looks like another beautiful world.
Yes, it's totally out of the world for me
Beautiful indeed!
That is amazing. Have you seen any penguins? I've still not visited a few of the continents.
Yes, penguins are easier to see than whales or seal, I have a clip on the video. Currently still trying to get some good shots of whales
I only just saw the video. Looks stunning. We need to preserve that environment.
How fabulous! Look forward to seeing your videos and pictures!
Need to get them sorted out, so much to share 😊
Best post of the year. Did anybody voted for it? Don't know but I HAVE NO question about either.
Haha! Thanks a much 😊
Wow... So scenic and stunning..

Absolutely amazing here
This is pure awesome.
Nature at its best
What does it smell like?
Penguin colonies are actually quite smelly due to the guano, and it gets worse in the coming month's. The sea can smell very fishy from the seaweed. Other than that, it smells pure
I can picture that. Might be an odd question but quite often for me, the smell of a new environment is what I end up missing the most. A memory that can't be recorded.
This is fascinating by the way. Looking forward to seeing more.
First memories always last the longest
Oh, what a great experience. It's amazing to be able to take such beautiful photos even after wearing three layers of clothing. I hope you'll show me more content when you get home.
I'll definitely be sharing, whether you see it depends on if you're following me
Super cool! Looking forward to seeing more photos from your trip!
Thanks
Antarctica looks majestic; the photos and video are incredible. Excellent work!
Work of nature, I'm just sharing what's on offer
wow the icy continent, where just surviving is a very big challenge
Conditions are certainly very challenging especially for the wildlife, but they manage
Thanks for your sharing of your great experience.Cant wait your next content 😎
Glad you liked it
Woah, incredible!!
Yup 😊
This is a great one with a great view. I love this. I hope you won't get to freeze before getting back home😄😄
No worries, we're kept nice and warm all the time.
Alright now no problem

😍📷 Hola, un pingüino por aquí... 😂
Love this content... Super!

Yeah, nah I'm not jealous.
And if you believe that, your brain must have frozen solid. 😊
I heard it only takes a couple of weeks to cruise from Australia to eastern Antarctica and it's even more wilderness that side. Imagine what an epic outdoorsy trip that would be 😄
Indeed, I looked into one some time ago pre-covid but the timing didn't work out with some other things I had to do and it fell off the radar...like a penguin off an iceberg.
Highly recommend you visit sooner than later, you never know what it's going to be like in the years to come
Yeah, no doubt a fucken McDonald's will pop up soon. Humans certainly know how to ruin and destroy.
