Wait, what? Getting married in a castle? In Switzerland?
When I visited this amazing medieval castle in the Eastern part of Switzerland I didn't know much about it. I was visiting close friends of mine who live nearby and as my flight back home was later in the evening the same day, they decided to bring me around so we have a nice few hours walk and the sit for a couple of hours for coffees and sweets by the lake.
My first visual meeting with the castle was stunning. Totally in a positive way, of course!
So I really knew nothing prior visiting this beautiful and classy place. I didn't know it has museums, shops, bistro and most importantly, amazing internal architecture. Also, I found out I was happy enough to be around at the best time, as the period of time from the beginning of November up until the end of March, the castle is fully closed for visits.
My friends parked their car at a nearby comfy parking and we took the walking path around the lake to get to the castle. Let me mention that the nearest Swiss city is Bucks, just across river Rein and Vaduz, the capital city of Liechtenstein.
I loved the curious ducks and other birds in the lake, not afraid by people and coming closer to us, expecting some delicious bird snacks, as it seemed :)
It was indeed a real pleasure and time well spent to take that walk. Scenery...
Lovely gardens, fruit trees and rose bushes. So floral...
Wow.
When standing close and looking up, it is not only an indescribable feeling but also, have you noticed the dragon snakes under the roof?
Of course, there is a legend, or a fairy-tale about it but I'm gonna let you search it for yourself if you're interested! :)
Some inner parts looked like ordinary residential buildings, with timber for the freezing Swiss winters and hand-made window curtains.
I loved the inner narrow streets, and especially, the drawings on the walls:
Here, it was so quiet that I was hearing clearly my steps and even my heartbeats!
Here, Swiss wisdom along the, what appeared to be, local external decorations:
As it seems, Astronomy has been honored here as well, check out this beautifully restored Sun clock:
The highest are in the castle, of course, has had defensive purposes in the past but at present times, all those holes in the castle walls reveal amazing and unique points of view. All of them, either to the castle vineyard or to the city of Bucks itself...
The highest place is also quite impressive. Yet another Sun clock on its walls.
Closer to the flag, near the gathering point (I suppose?)
So much attention even to the smallest details, don't you think?
Really beautiful and breath-taking, everywhere I was turning my sight to...
I really loved to have had the chance to hand around, despite the unfortunate fact the museums were closed at that time...
I could certainly tell this place hides many, many secrets and is the source of few fairy-tales...
Moreover, I could bet that its citizens, the people who live there during the whole year, are its denominated guardians, a secret army of protectors...
Finally, the time had come to get back down to the lake, take places at the cafeteria and enjoy the not-so-wild-life while having our cups of coffee and some sweets....
I was finally able to drop my heavy photo backpack for a while and enjoy fully the views while waiting for that cup of coffee :)
What better way to end such a picturesque journey, right? :)

The English Wiki page of the castle is virtually empty, so check out the German version instead, it has much better and interesting info: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Werdenberg
Once again, it is such a pleasure to be a pioneer and put the first @pinmapple pin at such an amazing Swiss destination.

I need to be more convinced to get married. Hehe! These shots are beautiful, every photo with a greenery touch? I love it. It speaks highly of nature.
So do I, hehehe :) Still, a really impressive place, the greenery is all around there, close to the Alps and not so hot in the summers. Thank you :)
