Australia is widely known for its spectacular beaches and landscapes. There are many of such wonders scattered around this country. But for now, the sandpatch beach stairs overlooking the Great Southern Ocean was the best place I had been after arriving here in Australia 7 months before. The stairs offers the gorgeous coastal views and also the beautiful wind farm. After parking our car in the top and walking around 5 minutes, the deep blue color of the ocean left me almost speechless. I saw ocean for the first time after coming here and this was another masterpiece.
There are more than 500 stairs that take you from top to bottom with stops between many places to sit and enjoy the view and enjoy cool breeze of the ocean. However the ocean is not the best place for surfing and swimming. The waves are also very powerful. There was also a stand where you can watch humpback whales but the best season to watch is between May and October. People also do paragliding and hang gliding around here and I was lucky to see one people doing that and he landed somewhere in the wind farm.
Getting close to these gigantic wind turbines was also the exciting part of our journey. There are 120 such turbines located at different places here. The farm contributes to around 80% of electricity need here in Albany- utilizing clean and renewable energy resources. Entry to here is absolutely free and is ideal place to see the sunset.
