Hi folks!
Remember when the COVID-19 just happened, everything was locked down and we couldn't go anywhere. At that time, I usually stayed at home the whole month and only went out for some groceries once every 4-6 weeks. It was such a hard time for an avid traveller like me. Luckily, in June 2020, Switzerland started to loosen the restrictions for domestic travel, so I was able to go for a day trip to Trubsee - a beautiful destination in Engelberg.
Trubsee is a lake that is surrounded by mountains, which makes it become a breath-taking landscape.
Some of you may know about Mount Titlis with the Titlis Rotair - the world's first revolving cable car. However, Titlis is not the only place you can reach via this famous cable car system. The cable car can also bring you to Trubsee, a mountain lake that is located lower than Mount Titlis. Thus, Trubsee is like a middle station of the whole ride of Engelberg to Titlis (retrieved from https://www.makemytrip.com/travel-guide/interlaken/mount-titlis-landmarks.html)
The price for a return ride to Trubsee is quite expensive as it costs 36 Swiss franc. However, you can have a discount if you have some kinds of cards such as Swiss Travel Pass, Interrail Pass, or Tell Pass (retrieved from https://www.titlis.ch/en/info/general/Prices). I received a 50% discount there since I had the carte journalière commune train ticket.
It is very easy to go there. From Geneva, we took the train to Engelberg. Then, I walked for about 10 minutes to go to the cable car station. In total, it took us 4 hours and a half to come to Trubsee from Geneva. It was really a day of pleasure as not only Trubsee was lovely, but also all the views I saw on the way there were magnificent.
Some photos I took from the train.
Quick photos that I took while walking to the cable car station. There was light rain on that day and it made the scenery become even more dreamy.
Some random pics that were taken from the cab. Since it was summer, there were greens everywhere.
At the moment I arrived in Trubsee, I thought my heart skipped a beat because of the place's beauty.
The gorgeous lake is located in the middle and there are reflections of the surrounding mountain peaks on the tranquil lake's surface.
There were a lot of cows in the area and all of them wore bells on their necks. So when they move you can hear a very pleasing and peaceful sound.
Although it was in the middle of summer, the weather in Trubsee was cool and there was even some snow on the mountain. Thus, it was really an ideal place to get away from the June's heat. As my friend and I were afraid of the virus' infection, we didn't go to a restaurant. So, we packed some sandwiches for lunch and ate them at a table that was put near the lake, and we had the best view for lunch on that day.
A photo with the table :))
After having lunch, we went for a walk around the lake. The trail is beginner friendly and it only took us 1 hour and a half to complete it. At the end of the trail, you can see the whole lake from above and the scenery is amazing.
The lake and mountain from above.
I like the road in this photo. It looks endless.
Some of the photos I took while exploring the place.
There are various landscapes in the area. There are mountains, a lake, and in this photo you can see a mountain stream.
There were also boats for rent. However, my friend and I don't know how to swim, so we didn't rent one. It would be great to sail on the lake and enjoy the view around.
Trubsee is a great place to relax and get some fresh air. I highly recommend you visit this place when you come to Switzerland.
That's all for today. Thank you and see you next time!
