Argentina - Hike and lunch to La Olla in La Cumbrecita, Córdoba: fueling up with a $10 sausage. / Caminata y almuerzo hasta La Olla en La Cumbrecita, Córdoba: cargando energías con una salchicha de $10. 😃❤️

Despite being a relatively small town, La Cumbrecita in Córdoba has plenty of places to explore, restaurants to try new food, and spots to sit and relax (if it's not too crowded with tourists, of course). But my dad and I don't like to rest on our outings, so naturally, we spent the whole day walking. We wanted to make the most of our day to get our money's worth from the $20 it had cost us to get there, and of course, we wanted to take home some new memories of our vacation together ❤️.

A pesar de ser un pueblo algo pequeño, La Cumbrecita en Córdoba tiene un montón de lugares para ir a explorar, restaurantes para probar comida nueva y espacios para sentarse a descansar un poco (si no hay tantos turistas alrededor, claro). Pero a mi papá y a mí no nos gusta descansar en nuestros paseos, así que por supuesto estuvimos todo el día caminando. Queríamos aprovechar nuestro día al máximo para hacer valer los $20 que nos había costado llegar hasta ahí, y por supuesto, queríamos llevarnos de recuerdo experiencias nuevas vacacionando juntos ❤️.

What's so appealing about La Cumbrecita, besides its remote mountain location, is that it still retains its German-style architecture and its pedestrian-only streets. In the days leading up to our trip, we'd had the opportunity to visit Villa General Belgrano, which also has this style, so complementing the experience by visiting this other place was fantastic. Plus, my dad was excited to explore this town and try some of its cuisine.

Lo que atrae de La Cumbrecita, además de su ubicación remota en las montañas, es que aún conserva su arquitectura estilo alemana y que sus calles internas son peatonales. En los días anteriores de nuestro paseo habíamos tenido la oportunidad de visitar Villa General Belgrano, que también tiene este estilo, así que complementar la experiencia visitando este otro lugar fue genial. Además, mi papá estaba emocionado por conocer este pueblo y probar algo de su gastronomía.

We always try to agree on what we both want to do, and this time my idea was to join him, but also do a bit of trekking for myself. So we agreed that we'd have lunch—whatever he wanted—and then hike somewhere beautiful. Luckily, this town is small and everything is close by, so we found a good restaurant and had the same old thing they sell everywhere: German sausage (supposedly). We paid $10 for this dish, which came with some sour potatoes and sauerkraut. I'm not entirely sure if I loved it, but at least it did the trick of filling my stomach for a few hours.

Siempre tratamos de ponernos de acuerdo en lo que ambos queremos hacer, y en esta oportunidad mi idea era acompañarlo a él, pero también hacer un poco de trekking por mí. Entonces hicimos el trato de que almorzaríamos algo que él quisiera, pero que luego caminaríamos un poco hasta algún lugar hermoso. Por suerte, este pueblo es pequeño y tiene todo cerca, así que encontramos un buen restaurante para almorzar lo que te vendían en todos lados: salchicha alemana (supuestamente). Pagamos $10 por este plato, que venía acompañado con unas papas ácidas y chucrut. No estoy muy segura de si me gustó al 100%, pero al menos cumplió su función de llenar mi estómago por algunas horas.

Our after-dinner conversation stretched on for quite a while as my dad chatted with the restaurant owner about things from the 80s that I knew nothing about (they were the same age), but this time gave me the opportunity to figure out how far we could walk on our outing. According to the map we'd been given at the tourist office, near where we were there was a place called La Olla, with an easy trail, perfect for exploring another little corner of La Cumbrecita.

Nuestra sobremesa se extendió bastante mientras mi papá conversaba con el dueño del restaurante sobre cosas de los 80 que yo desconocía (tenían la misma edad), pero este tiempo me sirvió para averiguar hasta donde podíamos caminar en nuestro paseo. Según el mapa que nos habían dado en la oficina de turismo, cerca de donde estabamos había un lugar llamado La Olla, con un sendero sencillo e ideal para visitar un lugarcito más de La Cumbrecita.

My dad's vacation this year coincided with the Easter long weekend in April, so on the day we visited this town, there were quite a few tourists around. Having so many people in one place can be a bit annoying, but I'm not complaining because, after all, we're tourists too. We had to find a good spot to sit for a while away from the hustle and bustle, and we rested there while that heavy sausage finished digesting. I don't know if it was the best lunch to fuel up for a whole day of hiking, but we couldn't leave without trying it.

Las vacaciones de este año de mi papá coincidieron con el fin de semana largo de Pascuas en abril, por lo que el día de nuestra visita a este pueblo habían bastantes turistas dando vueltas. Que haya mucha gente en un mismo lugar puede ser algo molesto, pero igual no me quejo de esto porque después de todo, nosotros también somos turistas. Tuvimos que buscar un buen lugar para sentarnos un rato lejos del bullicio, y nos quedamos descansado ahí mientras esa pesada salchicha terminaba de digerirse. No sé si fue el mejor almuerzo como para un día entero de caminata, pero no podíamos irnos de ahí sin probarla.

Although I had visited this town a few years ago, my memories were a bit hazy. I loved having the opportunity to go back, and this time with my dad, who is a great adventure buddy. We both love exploring new places and want to make the most of our time, so we were constantly taking pictures in every corner. Our time in La Cumbrecita was one of the busiest days of our vacation, but I was so happy that he finally got to see the place he'd been wanting to visit 😃.

A pesar de que yo ya había visitado este pueblo hacia algunos años, la verdad es que mis recuerdos estaban algo borrosos. Me encantó tener la oportunidad de volver a ir, y esta vez con mi papá que es un gran compañero de aventuras. A ambos nos gusta recorrer lugares y queremos aprovechar lo más que se pueda, así que andamos de acá para allá sacándonos fotos en todos los rincones. Nuestro paso por La Cumbrecita fue uno de los días de más actividad en nuestras vacaciones, pero me puso feliz que finalmente él conociera el lugar que tanto quería 😃.
