My Travel Tip in Singapore Without Getting Poor

in Worldmappin2 months ago

Hello, hivers! It's me again again, momshie Kri! How are you people? It's been a while since my last post. Long time no update hehehehe

For this episode, let me share my travel blog. Singapore is one of my bucket list countries. And heyyy! So happy to say na this is my first out of the country experience. Let me share with you how do I get there, how much money I spent and what are those tourist attractions Singapore has to offer during our five (5) days experience.

A lot of people ask, why I choose Singapore? Why not Hongkong, or Malaysia or Thailand or any other country in South-east Asia? And it made me think also, Whyyyy? Well, I think most people know about how expensive Singapore is. From food, accommodation, travel expenses and even in shopping spree. Yes Singapore is indeed expensive in all honesty. But hey! Would you believe me if I told you that you can travel there even though you’re just a minimum wage earner?
TIP in travelling to Singapore without getting poor.

Airline Expenses

On a whim, while staying overnight at a resort, my friends and I saw a Facebook advertisement about Cebu Pacific's "Piso Deal" HAHAHAHAHA . it was a completely random thinking and impulsive decision we ever made. Without much planning and hesitation, we decided to book a flight to Singapore, taking advantage of their cheap roundtrip fare of fifteen thousand pesos. To make the payment easier, we used my friend's credit card, which offered a six-month interest-free installment plan. At this point, for us it’s such a great deal, so tipid!

Hotel Accomodation

Little did we know, accommodation in Singapore is very expensive. But it has a wide range of affordable accommodation options just Make sure to compare and check hotel reviews before deciding on any. If you are the type of person who’s on a tight budget. This recommendation is for you, there are some good budget-friendly choices include hostels, budget hotels, Airbnb listings and dorm-style rooms at very reasonable rates. And we opted to book on a good for three-person hostel near the city. But if I may suggest if you have some relatives or friend living there then it would be an advantage of you and it is way cheaper! Additional tips, book your hotel from the official hotel website to get the best price so that we can avoid any scams.

Food Cuisines

Let me say it once again, Singapore is sooo expensive most especially when it comes to food. What we did, we packed a luggage full of instant noodles, biscuits, snacks and 3-in-1 coffee. While we weren't picky eaters, we often bought breakfast at 7-Eleven. Most apartment facilities have food courts offering Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine. Don't expect Indian food to taste exactly like it does in India. Roti prata, a type of Indian flatbread, is a good and affordable option. Little India has plenty of authentic Indian restaurants, but they tend to be more expensive due to the tourist crowds. It's worth noting that many Singaporeans are vegetarians, so researching restaurants beforehand can save you time, energy and money.

Transportation

Travelling around Singapore can be costly. It's best to buy a transportation card at the airport for using the MRT (subway) and buses. Always have exact change for bus fares. Taxis are very expensive, so use them only as a last resort. Get an international SIM card for calls and internet, and download offline maps or buy a physical map before your trip. Singapore is very different from the Philippines, so be cautious and aware of your surroundings.
You can also have the option to walk around and or rent using a bicycle since Many attractions are within walking distance, saving you money on transportation.
To make the most of your trip, research your destinations beforehand and learn to read Google Maps. Familiarize yourself with bus schedules and stops to avoid delays.

Itinerary

Singapore boasts numerous tourist attractions, many of which can be enjoyed without spending a lot. Unlike many tourists, we opted to create our own travel itinerary instead of purchasing packaged tours or passes. Your travel plan should include Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Botanical Garden, Orchard Road, Chinatown, Little India, and Sentosa Island, home to Universal Studios Singapore. Free walking tours offer a great way to explore the city and learn about its history.

Many people visit both Singapore and Malaysia, but due to our tight budgeting and time constraints, we decided to focus solely on Singapore. We hope to visit both countries, along with another destination, on a future trip.
To save money, consider visiting attractions during less crowded times or searching for online discounts.

Additional Tips:

Here are some essential tips to keep in mind:
Singapore's tap water is safe for drinking, which can help you save on buying bottled water.
If your accommodation has kitchen facilities, think about purchasing groceries and preparing your own meals.
Explore well-known tourist spots and seek out budget-friendly alternatives that provide similar experiences.
Take advantage of free entertainment such as street performances, live music, and cultural events.
Consider purchasing additional baggage for your return flight to the Philippines, as you'll likely indulge in affordable shopping in Singapore for items like chocolates, perfumes, shoes, and more.

Don’t forget to wear an Instagrammable yet comfortable OOTD for picture purposes.
The most important tip of all. Save your extra money for leisure. Know your priorities in financial aspects. Use your money wisely.
