La Quinta de Bolívar House Museum: A piece of the history of nations [ENG// ESP]

In Bogotá, Colombia I got a piece of my country, a root of history that speaks of Venezuela. A small Venice that before it was a Gran Colombia. Between the walls of this big house rest stories since 1919 and have remained there haunting the present of anyone who is interested in knowing the past that today defines us as brother countries.

Hello to all my people of WorldMapping, as always it is a pleasure to stop by and tell you a little about the recent trip I made where I got to know the elegant and beautiful Bogota. A city in Colombia that you can't miss. Because as well as being cultural, it is elegant, colourful, full of history and that is exactly what I am going to tell you about today with the Casa Museo La Quinta de Bolívar.

Just outside Monserrate, near La Candelaria, which is part of the city centre, you will find this museum, which stands between colonial style columns, imposing, with large gardens, halls and long corridors that take us into the history of the Liberator, Simón Bolivar.

At the main entrance of the mansion you will be welcomed by the guides who will give you all the information related to this Quinta de Bolivar, which according to what we were told, El Libertador occupied it for the first time in 1821 and then in 1826. During that time it was run by a relative of Bolivar's who unfortunately let the house fall into neglect. But in 1827, the Liberator returned with Manuela Saenz, who turned the quinta into a more pleasant, habitable place and a centre for political meetings of Bolivar's followers.

We went on a Sunday and it was quite crowded. Admission was free, and you can visit the place from Tuesday to Sunday when it is open to the public. In the place you can see spaces such as Bolivar's room, his small vegetable garden, even where they planted lettuce, we also saw spaces such as the kitchen, the dining room and the famous ‘pink room’ Manuela Saenz.

The place is undoubtedly a period infrastructure that takes us back to those times when the independence of Latin America was pulsating with great force. In this place we learn that little Simon was a man of great ideals, ahead of his time and with a futuristic vision that led him to become a fundamental figure in the Spanish-American emancipation against the Spanish Empire.

En Bogotá, Colombia conseguí un pedazo de mi país, una raíz de la historia que habla de Venezuela. Una pequeña Venecia que antes de ser era una Gran Colombia. Entre las paredes de esta casona reposan cuentos desde 1919 y se han mantenido ahí rondando el presente de todo aquel que le interese conocer el pasado que hoy nos define como países hermanos.

Hola a toda mi gente de WorldMapping, como siempre es un gusto pasar por aquí y contarles un poco sobre el reciente viaje que hice donde logré conocer a la elegante y bonita Bogotá. Una ciudad de Colombia que no pueden dejar de conocer. Porque además de ser cultural, es elegante, llena de colores, historia y eso es justo lo que les vengo a contar hoy con la Casa Museo La Quinta de Bolívar.

A la salida del Monserrate, cerca de La Candelaria, que forma parte del centro de la ciudad, justo ahí se encuentra este museo, que se levanta entre columnas de estilo colonial, imponente, con grandes jardines, salones y largos pasillos que nos adentran a la historia de quién fue El Libertador, Simón Bolivar.

En la entrada principal de la casona te reciben los guías que se encargan de darte toda la información relacionada a esta Quinta de Bolívar que segun nos explicaron El Libertador la ocupó por primera vez en 1821 y luego en 1826. En ese lapso de tiempo estuvo a cargo de un pariente de Bolívar que lastimosamente dejó que la casa se descuidara. Pero en 1827, regresó el Libertador junto con Manuela Sáenz, quien convirtió la quinta en un lugar más agradable, habitable y para centro de reuniones políticas de los seguidores de Bolívar.

Nosotros fuimos un domingo y había bastante afluencia de personas. La entrada fue gratuita, y puedes visitar el lugar de martes a domingo que es cuando está abierta al público. En el lugar puedes ver espacios como el cuarto de Bolívar, su pequeño huerto, hasta donde sembraban lechugas, también conocimos espacios como la cocina, el comedor y ese famosa “sala rosada” Manuela Saenz.

El lugar que sin duda es una infraestructura de época que nos traslada a aquellos tiempos donde la independencia de América Latina latía con muchísima fuerza. En ese lugar nos enteramos de que el pequeño Simón, era un hombre de grandes ideales, adelantado a su época y con una visión futurista que lo llevó a convertirse en la figura fundamental para la emancipación hispanoamericana frente al Imperio español.
