English Version
In the city of Havana there are many famous avenues and streets, for their history, their culture and the beauty that surrounds them, and among them the Fifth Avenue of Miramar, one of the most famous and emblematic, undoubtedly stands out.
The Avenue is located in the elegant neighborhood of Miramar, known for its impressive mansions which in another era were the residence of the bourgeois and wealthy class of the capital, these large houses were designed with different architectural styles which makes each one of them unique, many even due to its elegance are currently embassies and diplomatic residences. All the buildings in this neighborhood add a touch of elegance and splendor to the surroundings.
It also has several churches, the most majestic of which is the church of Jesus de Miramar, one of the largest in Havana, with its large dome and its cross on top visible from afar.
What I enjoy most about this central street is its central promenade from where you have a panoramic view of the surroundings, it is adorned with trees and gardens making this a quiet place surrounded by natural beauty. It is for this reason that you can always see groups of friends, families strolling or just sitting on the benches in the shade of the trees, it is also the ideal place for physical exercise, and people take advantage of the morning or afternoon hours for this activity. Another of the charms of the place is its proximity to the sea. Just a few steps away, the sea offers an impressive panorama. From some stretches of Fifth Avenue you can see the blue of the Cuban coasts.
Although not only nature lovers find this place fascinating, but also art lovers. For some time now, several large sculptures by Cuban plastic artist Kcho have been displayed in the central promenade. These pieces are part of a collection called “Momentos” (Moments), where the central theme is the sea and all the meaning it has for Cubans. The best thing is that every passer-by can admire them without the need to visit an art gallery or a museum, since they are there for everyone's enjoyment.
The combination of all these elements is what makes Fifth Avenue not only a transit road, but a place to visit, its architecture, history, culture, and vegetation is an invitation to enjoy every detail of this place.
