This Christmas season my friends and i decided to explore around Butuan City to find somewhere new and fun to hang out. We had heard a few people mention this spot called Weegol’s Garden and even though we knew it’s not open as a restaurant anymore we figured why not check it out anyway. And boy were we glad we did the place is still so beautiful, and we ended up having such an absolute blast there..

As soon as we walked in through the gate, this long winding pathway lined with all kinds of plants greeted us. Big, sturdy trees that must have been there for years tiny ornamental ones with glossy leaves and even some herbs we could not quite name everything’s so well taken care of like someone still pops by to tend to them every now and then. It just cools your eyes right down especially after being out in the midday sun. The pathway’s covered with thick vines that have little red flowers blooming all over them it’s like nature itself wanted to get in on the Christmas spirit, no extra decorations needed!

While we strolled around at a nice slow pace we could hear birds chirping softly from the branches above and feel the gentle breeze carrying the fresh, clean scent of all the greenery honestly, it’s so calming for your mind and heart. We even saw a couple of butterflies fluttering from flower to flower, which was such a nice little surprise.

Right in the middle of the path, we spotted this huge Winnie the Pooh plushie sitting on a bench wearing a bright red shirt that says “Pooh” in big yellow letters we all started grinning right away and spent forever taking selfies and group shots with him. Felt like kids again just goofing around and having fun next to him, making silly faces and laughing way too loud.

The walls and grounds still have little decorative touches here and there some painted stones tiny wind chimes hanging from branches even a few old signs that used to point to the kitchen or restrooms. It all makes you feel like this place was once super special like so many good times must have happened here with families celebrating birthdays friends meeting up after work and couples on dates..

The view at the center of the place is something i won’t forget. It opens up into what feels like a tiny, hidden park with flower beds packed with blooms in every color you can think of bright red poinsettias (perfect for Christmas!), sunny yellow marigolds, deep blue vincas and pure white daisies. It looks like a reallife painting and the way the sunlight filters through the trees makes everything glow. We even saw some potted plants with mini parols hanging on them someone must have put them up for the holidays which just made everything feel more festive and cozy.

It’s not a huge resort or fancy tourist spot or anything but the natural beauty here is more than enough to make you happy and let you forget about whatever’s stressing you out for a bit. We ended up sitting on one of the stone benches there for almost an hour just talking and soaking it all in.

While we walked around checking out every little corner we were saying how we really hope someone reopens this place as a cafe or hangout spot soon so more people can see how lovely it is. You can still see some of the old wooden tables and metal chairs tucked away under the shade of the trees and you can just tell this was once the kind of place where families and friends would gather to eat share stories and chat for hours on end.

Even though it’s not open for business anymore the good vibes and beauty are still there, making anyone who stops by feel good and right at home.

This Christmas i can honestly say this is one of the best spots we have visited here in Butuan. You don’t need to spend a ton of money to have a great time when you have got a place like this full of nature and charm that’s all you need to feel joyful and warm this holiday season.

Really does put you in a good mood and lets you unwind perfect for hanging with the people you care about and definitely worth a visit if you are looking for somewhere quiet and pretty to just breathe for a while!

That place looks like a perfect fit for a hangout with friends in a relaxing atmosphere! It's a pity that it's not open, at least as a bar, or a cafe... I suppose that's not too much work as a restaurant, and it would attract more people to appreciate such a great garden... It reminds me of a maze... I would like to be lost among plants and narrow passages... 😃
