It was a rainy day when I decided to take advantage of the last Saturday of the month when entry to all museums in Belgrade is free. I visited Museum of Applied Art. Almost a year has passed since then but I still didn't share the photos with you, so I will do it today.
The museum is located in the center of the city and the day was so cold that the streets were unusually empty.
The building in which the museum is located was built at the beginning of the 20th century and although a lot of time has passed, it has retained the spirit of the old times.
The marble interior of the building looks classy.
At the very beginning, on the ground floor, stylish furniture and items from the 19th and 20th centuries are exhibited.
The German tea service from the 19th century looked especially classy.
Or a German mirror and candlestick, also from the 19th century.
I also liked the items from the Far East.
A particularly colorful plate from 20th century Japan.
I was looking at a figure called a standing figure in rapture and I went back in time.
I excitedly climbed to the next floor.
There was also stylish furniture, mainly from Central Europe from the 20th century.
And a figure of a shepherd from the 18th century.
Then we went up to the next floor.
There we saw more stylish furniture, carpets and tapestries that were once very popular, so women made them themselves.
I was surprised when I saw a chair like my grandparents had, called Rex chair. It reminded me of good memories when we were sitting on the terrace and looking forward to life.
I also saw interesting posters here and especially liked the poster Everybody to the elections, from 1958.
And an illustration "Mama" for a magazine called Poletarac from 1974.
And I liked the dresses from the 19th century the most. I would still wear them now.
As well as other fashion details...
The museum is big and there is a lot to see and you should take a little more time to see everything. I will definitely go again.
Thank you very much for reading.
