According to ancient Chinese myths, there was a god named Pangu who protected the heavens and the earth from various disturbances with the help of four animals, namely the Dragon, Phoenix, Qilin and Tortoise. Then, every time the Qilin had finished helping the Pangu God guard the heavens and the earth, he would go into the dense forest and live in it.
