Hello everyone, Welcome.
Home is where we return, as comfortable as a hotel, home is still the place we want most for a place to rest. But, what if you have a house with an area of 14 hectares? What will you do with it? I think I won't be able to occupy it and take care of it myself.

This 14-hectare house is clearly not my house, I want to talk about the house of someone who is very famous in Yogyakarta, you could say, they are the family who owns this vast city of Yogyakarta. This kingdom that has existed since ancient times has great power to lead Yogyakarta. They have a large house, even if I go around the house every day I can lose weight and stay fit because it is so large.

This is the Kedhaton Yogyakarta, where the Yogyakarta Sultanate lives, a very comfortable place like a mansion. Open to the public and can be seen by the public, but only a few places are allowed and the rest are closed because they are used privately by the Yogyakarta Sultanate.

It's not free, there are tickets that must be paid, it is also used for the prosperity of the ladies-in-waiting or what are usually called abdi dalem. All are used to really take care of this place so that it is maintained as a cultural heritage. The vast land makes us who visit will be very satisfied to see how the life and residence of the very rich Sultan of Yogyakarta is.

Statue of the courtiers or 'abdi dalem'

Instead of being the greatest person in Yogyakarta, this Kedhaton is actually very simple. That is what makes the Yogyakarta Sultanate known for its simplicity, protecting the community and remaining at an important point in the Yogyakarta government.

Having a palace full of philosophy, the palace is full of many performances. There are so many joglos (houses without walls) for gamelan music performances that are often played, even when I was there, the music was played very softly and joyfully. This Javanese gamelan music is often used especially for several important events. Like the night of one Syuro or other things. Because there are so many customs that are carried out, so the place must be really alert to receive orders from the sultanate if needed.

There are so many types of gamelan musical instruments, although almost all of them have often been replaced due to being eroded by time. Gamelan has a complex melody, a type of music that is truly distinctive and is not owned by other regions.

Several historical relics are also still displayed in several places and are even still used today. Like this very large drum, it should not be touched, only viewed and photographed. It is hundreds of years old, guarded because it is also part of the cultural heritage.

Kedhaton Yogyakarta has many doors, every time you enter one place, it is always connected to several doors. Obviously, these doors become a layer of fortifications, because this place is a palace that must maintain the privacy and security of the sultanate.

The vastness of this place makes the feet very tired, that is why there are so many abdi dalem who are truly committed to always maintaining loyalty to the Yogyakarta sultanate. There are so many abdi dalem who can be asked to tell stories about this sultanate. However, there is one thing that must be considered, politeness is the most important thing in this place. In order to maintain relationships with each other, then, obey the existing rules.
