Pulau Pinang (means: Penang), not far from a small and crowded city. But in my opinion, this city is not as crowded as imagined. Seeing this city is very relaxed with friendly people, it is a suitable place to relieve fatigue from usual activities.
A few months ago I went to Pulau Pinang and returned with a feeling of being truly full of happiness, even though it was a short trip that did not really fulfill the existing itinerary but I had time to go to several famous places in this city of Penang.
Yesterday I discussed about beautiful places in Penang from the perspective of the oldest temple from China, this time I also want to discuss one that I stopped by in Penang, being the oldest temple in Penang outside Burma, Dhammikarama Burmese Temple.
This temple is very large, located on one of the corners of the street in Penang, near the largest mall in Penang, Plaza Gurney if I'm not mistaken, because I didn't stop by the mall either but some people said that this temple is located near the center of Penang. Then with great pleasure, I went around Penang city and found it.
A temple that has existed since 1805 and is still used today. Often this temple is very crowded when entering Waisak day and the Water Festival. Well, the water festival here always uses a pool to be used. The pool is called the 'pool of hope' which is located in the temple area. Often a place that is called holy and suitable for praying to pray for desires and every hope here.
Every temple has interesting details, including this temple. Uniquely, this temple was built with great detail from several interesting accents, one of which is made of natural wood carved in a room which is indeed the main place for prayer. The wood carvings are quite large, although not like the temples in Pattaya. However, this temple is unique because of its interesting design.
In fact, here there are many beautiful murals dedicated to Prince Siddharta on his journey to reach nirvana and become Buddha. There are several statues depicting how the poses of Buddha statues are in sacred meditation poses and the most important fact is that all of them are the result of donations from donors who pray at this temple.
Of course, my favorite place is a wishing pool which is the most comfortable place here. Although in an open place, the atmosphere built around the pool is so calming to the soul. While looking at the Buddha statues and the worshipers are praying, so this place becomes a healer for anyone who has hope.
