Santander Cebu

This coastal municipality is located in the southernmost part of Cebu Island. A fourth-class municipality with an estimated area of 35.67 square meters. It is a gateway to Cebu in the south of nearby islands such as Negros Oriental.

The town is not only known for its annual celebration of Tostado Festival, which is held every third Sunday of April. It is also a home ground for diving spots, beautiful beaches, Island hopping, and a lot of other undiscovered tourist spot.

Discovering Unknown Beach

20230819_103350.jpg

Last August this year we visited an unknown pristine beach in Santander Cebu that I think only a few know about this place. It was a long weekend when one of my colleagues Sir Dodong, who also stands as our father figure in our workplace invited us together with one of my other colleagues Yen to their retirement beach house in Santander Cebu Philippines.

At work, he always shows us the beautiful beach view they have in Santander Cebu. We are always envious and eager that someday we will visit his place and we were grateful when Sir Dodong let us join in visiting their Beach House in Santander Cebu last August.

It was around 11:00 pm when we arrived at the house, and since It was already late, we decided to rest and save up energy for the morning activities. I sleep in the tent that I set up in the vacant area of the house facing the beach. It was a bit cold due to the sea breeze but it also relaxing when you heard the sound of the waves.

In the morning, I wake up around 5: 00 am and this is the magical scene that will greet you on the beach. I love how the sunrise peeking up at the top of the famous Sumilon Island. By the way, the beach area faces the islands of Sumilon and Siquijor Island.

It was low tide in the early morning and it was great having a walk in the bay. but when the sea water rose up, the total beauty of the beach was highlighted. The crystal clear water, the long white sand, the marine life beneath, and the charming view of the beach.

Recreational Activities

Freediving and Underwater Adventure

As I said it is a home ground of beautiful diving spots. You will be mesmerized by the enchanting reefs and colorful variety of fish. Along the area of this beach, there is a fish sanctuary where everyone is prohibited from diving. It is a protected area for marine life.

Snorkeling and Kayaking

This is one of the best activities in the area, having a crystal clear ocean you will see the colorful fish and corals at the sea bed. You will see clearly what is underneath you while floating at the top of the water. You will also love riding some kayaks while exploring the bay.

Sunbathing

If you want some tanning skin and sleep on the fine white sand, this beach can give you that. The long white sand of the beach is so irresistible and attractive. You will surely lay down and feel its fineness.

Camping and Burnfire

If you overnight in the beach area, you can bring your tent and set it up in an open area or a grass field on coconut trees. There is a wide space where everyone can build their tents and can also make a burnfire to heat up your night. Just be responsible with everything.

Surfing

I never expected this activity on the beach. I saw some visitors are finely playing with the waves. The waves are not as big as in Siargao, but it is enough to enjoy yourself and play with it. Look at Enna (Dog's name) enjoying on her surfboard exploring the waves of this beach.

Theirs more activities you can do on the beach aside from what I've mentioned above. If you visit, you will surely love the place not only its amazing scenery and activities but also the people in this area. They are very genuine, approachable and hospitable.

Did you know that locals didn't make a name for this beach alone when I asked " how they called it?". They just say, bay area of barangay Pasil near the chapel. Funny to know that this kind of pristine beach is not known to everyone. But I'm sure when you visit you will be amazed.

Yes maam tuyokon nato ang Cebu 😅. Balik ta adto maam, nice kaayo ang place. If mag travel ka from Sanrem to Santander basin 6-7 hours imong travel time.

I am envious! Were there lots of corals and fishes? I wonder if this place is a good freediving spot! Love how secluded and serene it is.

Theirs a lot, you love venturing the seabed as you will see the colrful reefs beneath. Dool rani sa Sumilon Island.

Amazing places & photographs!
Thank you for sharing :)

It is indeed, thank you for visiting @katerinaramm, glad you like it

The seas in Cebu's southern region are truly glistening clean. I have visited my mother's hometown in Samboan, which is located very close to Santander, but that was a long time ago. Actually, we were just spending time together as a family by the sea near the road, but the water was all crystal clear, plus no money would be spent since it's a public beach. Thank you for sharing this with us, sir @intoy.bugoy! ❤️❤️

Indeed Cebu beaches are one the kind
