This island exploration happened Last October 4, 2020. This is the time when the restriction for travelers and resorts for Covid 19 Virus was lifted in Cebu, Philippines. For seven months moving in a limited area from Work to home on working days and only went to the Grocery store on Sunday. At last, we exhale again away from the problems we faced right now and inhale again the spirit of nature even in a short period of time. This outing in Olango Group of Island is a big help to us to boost our energy physically and mentally.

Olango Group of Island

Olango Group islands are one of the known tourist destinations in Cebu. The crystal clear ocean, white beaches, and the astonishing Reefs where underwater wildlife was seen are located in this place. This group of islands is composed of Six Islets, namely: Sulpa, Gilutongan, Nalusuan, Caohagan, Pangan-an, and Camungi. The six islets have their own stunning view that gives you a wow factor. In addition here are the small islets that have a unique and amazing view that makes you love the area.

How to reach Olango Group of islands

The group of islands is located in Lapu-Lapu Cebu and to reach these islands, from Cebu city you will ride a public vehicle or private vehicle going to this area. For public vehicles, ride a minibus in Park Mall Terminal in Mandaue Cebu going to Mactan Newtown Terminal for 30 minutes, it will only cost you 30 Pesos for the fare. Then you will ride a tricycle going to Angasil Port for 5 minutes, it will cost you 15 pesos for the fare. Then you will be renting out a Tourist Boat that will bring you to Olango Group of Island. The rent for the boat is 4000 Pesos only. (You may use your private vehicle for your convenience going to the area. The Angasil Port has a Parking area where you can park your vehicle).

The island hopping was hosted by the Safety Department and we are glad that we are invited to this outing. We really grab this invitation, because we are all so eager to travel again 😅. Imagine for 7 months of moving remotely and not doing travels it was so boring and psychologically exhausting. Especially at this time when Covid- 19 Virus surged in our area.

In this outing, we move every time and then to another island, but We stay most of our time in the middle of the sea. We have a piece of upbeat music that makes us dance and sing, which everyone enjoyed it.

The foods and drinks are not absent on this outing. We have a lot of food actually. We have one whole Lechon (roasted pig), grilled fish, and many more. We also buy fresh sea urchins and shells from the nearby fisherman. Which is delicious that I didn't expect. (my first time to eat sea urchin😊).

We have fun on this outing. Some are jumping on the boat, sunbathing, and diving into the crystal clear water of the ocean. Don't forget to bring your sunblock and glasses for your protection against the sun. Keep in mind that the temperature in the middle of the sea is Hot, so always bring your protection.

Our last destination is the Fish Sanctuary near Olango Island. I am so amazed theirs a lot of fish, different kinds of species and colors. It is my First time seeing it like this. We enjoy feeding them and snorkeling in the area. you will also amaze the reefs beneath that ocean it is soo alive and beautiful. In this part, I became excited to see more such stunning views like the Reefs and fish sanctuary of Olango. Sad we don't have an instrument to capture how beautiful it is, but here is the sample picture from Sugbo.ph to give you an image similar to what I see.
