My thoughts keep lingering to that time where we spontaneously decided to make one last pit stop at one of the breathtaking beaches in Siargao Island. It was an impromptu decision, as we were supposed to be leaving for the mainland by noon break. Despite its spontaneity, it was just the perfect farewell gesture to Siargao.
Jacking Horse as what it was named. A surf spot famous to the locals and foreigners alike. There is no entrance fee to enter here. All we did was pay the cheap tricycle fare of 20 pesos. It was a weekday if I can recall it correctly so the absence of crowds allowed me to fully immerse myself in the natural beauty without any distractions.
It wasn't hard to look for a spot to settle in as there were lots of shade provided by the tall coconut trees lined along the shoreline. My two-year-old companion immediately claimed her spot, happily engaged in digging the sand with her plastic toys—an image that brought a smile to my face.
It was a quiet morning. The fine white sand stood out as the sun peaked. Out on the distant, the soft waves along the shore created a mesmerizing scene, tempting me to jump in for a swim. I mean just look at that turquoise and deep blue colors! A sight you would probably just want to keep looking at.
Alas, I didn't brought my swimwear nor did I intend to go for a dip as the visit was relatively short. What a shame indeed!
Although few, there was a lively group of surfers on the water. I really couldn't see them clearly but they were more evident when they would stand on their boards and ride the small waves. The waves weren't as big as it was a day before so it would have been the best time for me to enjoy the refreshing, cool waters of this place.
After some time, my friend decided it was the perfect moment for a quick swim with her little one. They sat right just where the waves crashes the shore. Oh, I was so envious. The mom had a big smile and took their sweet time basking on that moment.
I wanted them to enjoy their mom and daughter bonding so I chose to go for a leisurely walk along the wide shoreline, leaving my slippers behind to feel the fine white sand beneath my feet.
There were little stores along the way so if you ever need a bottle of water or some food, you wouldn't have problem.
Turning around the corner of the pathway, I was welcome with the sight of the famous Cloud 9 Boardwalk. Yet, it wasn't the structure that captivated me; it was the picturesque scenery of the coconut tree-lined shore. The beach was clean, refreshing to the eyes, and would want you to stay for eternity.
However on this side, one would have to be careful when swimming as it is naturally rocky. A few people though could be seen happily immersed in the water. A lady was even holding a can of drink while laying there! Some were sitting under the shade while others went for a sun bath. It always make me wonder how they can stand a long time under the heat of the sun.
It felt like time stood still. My leisure walk had taken longer than expected so I decided to retraced my steps. At this point, more people carrying surfboards were arriving. This was our cue to say goodbye to this paradise. And with that, my heart was a little bit fuller.

All the more if I had someone walking with me. 😁
My one of the top priority in my bucket list 😊 to be in Siargao and seems like you're really loving the view. I was expecting you'll also do surfing 😅.
Tried surfing years ago. I was more cautious about my knee so I decided not to do it during this time. But you should definitely try it!
I wanted to but sadly I don't know how to swim 😅😅
No crowd! I like that! I could enjoy the moment - so I feel you! It’s a peaceful walk with that peaceful environment. Wish I could visit - I’ve never been there, not to surf but maybe just to enjoy the sights.
Sayang lageh wala koy ka holding hands. perfect najud unta toh. haha.

What a beautiful holiday destination! Oh, how I wish I was there now 😍
@indayclara
Siargao reminds me of a Colombian island called Johnny Key. The Philippine Sea sometimes looks like the Caribbean. Correct me if it's the same ahahahaha. Well, what can I say about these photos, right? A place of peace! I would love to sit in a shade like that and spend the day reading, I would love to take photos and videos around the island and bring its history through my own eyes, just like you did.
And detail, Wow, there's still a surf spot that seems fun and popular. I would love to spend the whole day there, going down the waves and feeling the local energy.
After the school onboarding I am an eternal fan of your work, I will be getting to know your work and hobbies better and always supporting your content here at Hive.
