This will be the first in my Siargao Retrograde series!
I traveled to Siargao last month during Mercury Retrograde. I know some don't believe in that shit but for me, it's all true, and at that time my spirit guides were telling me not to go on this trip!
Well, I should have listened!
But still, I couldn't stop myself from sharing with you the good things that happened to me while I was there.
So let's begin...
A simple yet serene beachfront caught my heart in Siargao Island (Surfing capital of the Philippines). There are indeed a lot of more popular ones that would have been more suitable to go to but I enjoy going to the secluded, out-of-civilization places where I can bask in its beauty all to myself.
Well, this was the first stop we went to before heading for our dance workshop later that night. We needed to find a place to let the kids play and swim while we adults also do our thing.
Luckily, the tricycle driver was kind enough to bring us to a beach that is still close to our dance workshop venue.
And that was how we stumbled upon Barrel Sports Bar Siargao & Beachfront Lounge. Despite the name, we didn't find ourselves amid a crowd of men watching sports. There were only a couple of people staying there. Some were enjoying their food, and some were just sitting and watching at the beach.
And so it was the perfect place to leave the kids for an hour or two. One adult was left to watch over them so no worries.
As we entered the premises, we passed by big, beautiful, concrete beach houses on stilts. Then I realized apart from the bar and beachfront lounge, the establishment rents out apartments for travelers but on a different name called Yama Beachfront House. I checked on Agoda and prices start at $58/night. I saw the amenities inside the houses and I think a stay here is worth it.
The yard facing the beach is so refreshing too. So much space for kids and pets to play around.
And right in the middle is where the Bar is located. Besides some affordable cocktails and mixes, they serve food! I and my girls even said that we would come back just for the drinks because prices would be a bit higher in other places.
Right across the fence lies this wide beach shore with fine sand and a very calm open sea.
Small boats lie still on the calm waters not far from the shore. Stray dogs lying casually on the sand, chilling. And other beachgoers from the neighboring place enjoying a quiet moment at the beach.
The kids that were with us, well children of my dance friends rushed to the shore. Quickly grabbed their toys and started to play with the sand. They had a great time playing and dipping in the sea. If only, I had more time that day, I would have also joined them instead. I love kids.

The beach shore extends far and wide; vlean and free from nuisance (stalls, cottages, and the like), away from the crowd too!
This place would be a perfect serene getaway to just chill and relax with a glass of cocktail while watching over your children have a blast at the beach.😉

Just a few weeks ago, before I filed for a month long leave at work, my workmates and I have been talking about Siargao. Pag Siargao daw aasawahin 🤣 unlike Boracay, what happened in Boracay leaves in Boracay.
It was on our bucket list to visit here, yet I do not know when it will happen.
Also, glad to see it was back to business now after the typhoon hit the area a year (s) ago.

It's time to visit Siargao soon! The businesses are back up and the tourist spots are worth visiting again. If the place is calling you, then you should go!
There are affordable places you can pick from where handsome foreign men are staying. 😉🥴

The place is good and cozy Claire in all fairness to the location ganda! The alfresco area is also good. I love how you can still view the beach while drinking some alcoholic beverages ( wow kala mo naman nainom ) kape nalang.
Parang ang sad nung mga aso, ayaw sila isali nung mga bata sa laro hahah.
I still have to experience finishing a bottle of wine while watching the sunset. simple nlng goals ko in life 😂
also the strays in siargao are so friendly. Dami nila pero feel ko iba may mga owners pero pagala gala lng sila sa beach
Ganda ng beachfront accommodation, bet na bet. I've been to Siargao twice, I was planning to stay there for a month but I realized it was so expensive to stay there. I just want to surf every day and forever. Haha! Of course, I need to rent a motorbike for my transportation. I enjoyed my solo motorbiking experience there. Umuwi friends ko ako na lang mag isa. hehe
Yes! I've been planning the same as well pero what makes the place expensive is the food if hindi ka mahilig magluto, then rental sa motor and gas, and the surfing classes and rental of surfboards!
so medyo postpone tlga yung plan na ito until may malaking excess budget na tayo.
True, everything is so expensive sa Siargao. Lupig pa may Palawan (Puerto Princesa City where I stayed for 2 years). Mga foreigners lang maka afford mag stay sa Siargao kahit di reliable yong hospital dun.
Somebody told me na yayamanin daw ko ke naa sa Palawan. Di nila alam that Palawan is just so affordable. Mas mahal pa rent ko sa Cebu City kesa PPC.
it's good to stay in Siargao if wala kang problema sa pera or ayaw mo na lang mag work. hehe

Oh, yes! I felt so at peace being there even if it was onl a short period of time. I think the island itself is beautiful and brings you home to mother nature.
