What first comes to mind when you hear about Cebu?
Me, I can think a lot of beautiful things here in Cebu like the people, foods, parks, and most specially beaches. But why don’t we try to escaped to another island… what do you think?
In this blog, let me introduce another eye-catching island that you will undoubtedly visit again. This island is still part of the province of Cebu and is located east of Cebu Island – Camotes Island. A ferry can be used to get to this island. The fare for a non-aircon is 360.00 and for airconditioned is 390.00 only. They even have multiple schedules for their daily trips so you can have your own DIY itinerary since you have options to their schedules provided.
This is my first time to visit the island and in no doubt, it meets my expectation as to what I imagined the place. Particularly in this place, I am curious and marks a question in my mind about what makes it unique from other islands or beaches.
To be honest, when you see the entire island, it doesn’t really differ greatly compared to some other beaches because it has a white sand, nice beach, beautiful resorts… but here’s one thing about their natural beaches, it’s literally a crystal-clear water and extremely white sugary sand. The location is a peaceful, undiscovered tourist destination, making it ideal for vacations.
I had a great time taking the pictures, especially since beach photos had to be Instagram-worthy. I even packed three sets of swimsuits so I could wear various clothes in different settings. Funny, huh? People shouldn't object, though, as that is a girly thing that only girls could understand.
I only had two days and one night stay in this island so the places that I visited are Mangodlong Paradise Beach Resort, Santiago Beach Resort and Paraiso Cave. Somehow, the tour is worth it seeing this beautiful view. I am incredibly appreciative and grateful that I got to visit beautiful island. Aside from the resorts that I mentioned, Camotes Island has a lot of different beaches that you can visit and you can check it online so you can plan your itinerary.
So, here’s a little information for your reference if you wanted to visit Camotes Island. Details below are rates per person.
• Paraiso Cave – Php35.00/pax
• Mangodlong Rock Resort – Php40.00/pax (Free entrance if you are a guest in Santiago Bay Garden and Resort)
NOTE: Rates indicated above may change.
TIPS WHEN YOU TRAVEL CAMOTES ISLAND:
• Plan your vacation for the dry season. It would be better to visit the place during summer season. This runs from March to May. This is important because the beaches and caverns' pristine water would be visible on a clear day.
• Camotes Island is accessible from a number of ports.
• Santiago Bay Garden and Resort has a subsidiary company called Mangodlong Rock Resort. You can enter Mongodlong Rock resort for free if you stayed at Santiago Bay Garden and Resort, and vice versa.
• During tours, it would be better to include your tour guides while placing meal orders. On the island, the price of their foods are reasonable and affordable.
Supplies are available on the island at local stores. However, don't assume that they offer every brand or item. Make sure you have everything you'll need. And also, in Camotes Island, there are no fast food establishments so you may explore the island's restaurants to taste the real thing. Another thing, the signal is weak in most places.
In any case, the Philippines is home to numerous stunning beaches, resorts, waterfalls, and other natural landmarks, aside from Camotes Island and Cebu. That is why this country naturally has a large number of islands, which makes us privileged when it comes to travel destinations.
So yeah! What are you waiting for? Packed up and set to go… life is too short to isolate your self inside the four corners of your room, go out and discover the beauties of the outside world. Beyond our comfort zones, there is so much to learn about life, which is quite great. . I guarantee you that you can appreciate life more when you look outside and wander. The life we usually have is already exhausting so it is a matter of choice to give some time to breath and making life worthwhile.
