Travelled to Solang valley (Indian Himalayas)

Last time I visited Solang Valley was in June and look, in just 3 months I am back in the mountains here. This time I have come to volunteer in a trail running event. The event is on 5-6 October in which runners are going to run 100 kms that too with 7450 meters elevation gain.

Let me talk about my trip, last night I got a bus at 8 pm, whose conductor told me that the bus will drop me at Manali after 14 hours. That means it will take 14 hours to cover a distance of 600 kms. I had 3 bags ready because I have to stay in the mountains for about 10 days. Clothes were packed in one bag, camera in another and camera in another.

I fell asleep after half an hour while sitting in the bus and when I woke up I had reached Kullu, it was 8 am and the weather was clear outside. Manali is still 40 kms from here which the bus takes 2.5 hours to cover. After landing in Manali, I first have breakfast, after which I buy some things for myself and go to the admin office from where I had to take permission regarding the event, which the admin did not give saying that come after lunch.

From here I take an auto rickshaw for 700 Indian rupees which will take me to Solang Valley. The rickshaw took 40 minutes to cover a distance of 14 km. After reaching Solang, I check in at the hotel and after having lunch I leave for the route where the race is going to be held. While hiking on the route, it starts raining, so I wait for some time under a tree for the rain to stop and when the rain turns into thundering and lighting, then I come out of the forest and start walking back to the hotel.

I was able to go only 5 km on the route, after coming to the hotel, I take a bath and after drinking a hot tea, I am now lying in the quilt and writing a blog for hive. Now the rain has stopped outside and the weather has become cold. Whatever work could not be done today, I will do it tomorrow and I hope that the weather will be clear tomorrow.
