Road journey from Home to Himalayas

in Worldmappin6 months ago

A race running event is coming in which I have to go to volunteer. This event is going to be held in Himachal Pradesh on 18-19 May. Today I will take you to the venue of this race where I reached yesterday.

I had booked the bus ticket a day in advance. My friends told me that we will meet you in Kharar. I boarded the 7 am bus from Dehradun. The distance from Dehradun to Chandigarh is approximately 200 km. And it took me 04:30 hours to cover this distance.

Reaching Chandigarh at 11:30, I took a public bus from here which would drop me at Kharar. I get to Kharar in 35 minutes with a ticket of Rs 30. Dehradun is not as hot as it was felt in Chandigarh and Kharar. I called my friend and informed him that I have reached the location, to which he replied by saying wait for me, it will take 50 minutes.

I keep waiting but there is no sign of my friend. After a while we get a call that we are stuck in a traffic jam and it will take us an hour. I wait from 12:30 to 02:30 and then they come. We sit in the car and set out on a journey to the mountains. We leave from Kharar and stop at Ropar where we have lunch.

After lunch we enter the border of Himachal Pradesh. The work of making the road here till Manali 4 lane is almost on the verge of completion. It is good that the tunnels created due to the widening of the road have shortened the route considerably. We save a lot of time by crossing some tunnels and reach Mandi, the oldest city of Himachal Pradesh. From Mandi we take a left turn towards Padhar.

On the way, we take a coffee break and after drinking one Cappuccino each, we come back on the road. Click some sunset photos and cross Joginder Nagar by 8 o'clock. Here our destination remains only 14 km away, which takes us another 20 minutes to cover. So after reaching Bir, check in the room and have dinner at 9:30 and sleep in your room. Now tomorrow we have to leave for marking on the Hanumangarh trail.
