Museum of world dolls in Rabat

in Worldmappinlast month

Hello to all my friends,

Today I'd like to share with you a unique museum with incredible collections and a variety of styles from all over the world. This cultural treasure trove is located in the heart of the old city of Rabat!

The museum is housed in a stunningly beautiful traditional house. The house perfectly reflects authentic Moroccan architecture, with its refined details and warm atmosphere. The house consists of a ground floor, an upper floor and numerous rooms, each dedicated to a specific exhibition of dolls. Each room reveals a unique universe, where the dolls are carefully arranged to tell a story or represent a particular country, era or culture.

It all began in France in the 1960s, when a 5-year-old girl from Lyons received her very first doll. For her, these little figurines were not just toys, but veritable messengers, capable of telling stories from the four corners of the globe. Each doll she received became a little window onto a culture, a tradition or a trade. Very quickly, her collection grew.

Over the years, her passion has only grown. Through her travels and donations from friends and family, she has collected over 2,500 dolls from 91 different countries. Just imagine: dolls wearing the traditional costumes of their region of origin, reflecting the lifestyles, trades and even the climatic and social characteristics of their era. Some are made of fabric, others of wood or clay, but all have been handcrafted with incredible care and creativity.

The collection also includes miniatures created by the owner herself. These represent traditional Moroccan crafts and trades, as if to pay homage to her host country.

But what I also really liked about this museum was the warm atmosphere. The owner is passionate and welcoming, and was happy to share anecdotes about her dolls and her travels with me, explaining every detail. This museum is the fruit of a lifetime dedicated to curiosity, discovery and a love of the world's cultures.

Of course I can't share all the dolls on display in this museum, as there are far too many. However, I am going to show you a few examples that I took photos of, classified by continent. I invite you to discover these photos, which reflect the unique atmosphere of this museum. They are just a glimpse of the richness and diversity of this impressive collection. I hope they will inspire you to visit one day and immerse yourself, as I did, in this captivating world.

Let me start by showing you the first and oldest doll in the museum (a woman from Lyon, France, the city where the idea for the museum originated) :

Now, as I mentioned, I'm going to show you dolls from certain countries on each continent. I've tried to select a few photos from each continent, as it's impossible to show all the photos. However, I'd like to repeat that I was really impressed by the precision of the choice of clothes specific to each country, and in each country there are dolls that represent each region with its own culture.
