Ostermärkte. Leipzig

in Worldmappin3 years ago

Easter, a date in the christian calendar, (apparently it is a moveable date, due to it being based upon the jewish calendar which follows the cycles of the moon) is hugely celebrated throughout the Germanic speaking bits of continental europe, more so perhaps as it is a long weekend break away from work rather than any religious inclination, with fairs festivals and markets being held here there and everywhere; something that hasn't caught on in the uk..........yet

Whilst i was in Leipzig I thought I would have a wander around their take on an historical market. It would appear to be the 25th year of said festival.

It was good to see so many folk out in the spring sunshine, face nappy free, mingling enjoying life.

Or some nice cheese.

It is very much like the christmas markets except there is a lack of Gluhwein and snow.

There's something very satisfying about that picture of the ladles. Might be the way it's cropped but it has stock image qualities if that makes sense?

Not really lol

I was going to say that it looks a lot like a Christmas market. It looks like a fun event. I don't know why but I really like seeing wooden cleaning tools like those in the stall with all of the brooms and dusters and what not. I guess that is the stage of life I am at haha.

Grindle is getting worried about you!!!!

Haha 😆 that's fair

Great captures @grindle it truly shows the atmosphere there.
I have been to a few different markets in Köln so it does look familiar. 😊

It was very interesting to watch the holiday, but I was afraid for the people who rode the carousel, it looks very dangerous).
