Hello Travel Friends,
Today, I'm taking you to Balabac Island, one of the first islands you get to see if you are coming from the south of Palawan. This will also be my last post in the Pinmapple community.
We only stopped here to avoid some weather again. We had constant NE winds, which made it difficult to push north, especially since catamarans don't like to go upwind.
We didn't have many expectations for the Philippines, but we were shocked at how beautiful it is, and this was only our first spot.
Local fishing Boats
We were greeted by local fishing boats as soon as we anchored, but surprisingly, they didn't seem to speak English, so it was a short conversation.
The soil is good enough to grow your own food, which is essential for all these villages since they are so far from civilisation or major towns. Fortunately, they have internet, and I'm sure that helps them a lot.
This anchorage was really beautiful, and we wished we could go on land to explore the farms and get to know the people on shore. However, since we were not checked in, this was not possible.
This drone shot above shows the entire bay. You can see the waves rolling onto the reef, indicating that it is quite rough outside. Fortunately, this bay offered full protection, and we slept really well, just had to wait for the right weather window to leave the next day.
It was an honour posting in the Pinammple community, even if it was just for a short amount of time. Thank you for all the hard work your team put into building this amazing community.
I really hope you enjoyed this little blog. If you did, make sure to like and follow. See you tomorrow with a special post.
