Who would have anticipated that the place I only wished to visit in my college days would come true? To be honest, I am not a huge fan of Korean drama or KDrama, although I have watched a few. I don't even have a favorite Korean actor or actress; I'm just a plain audience.
When my friend told me we were heading to Nami Island, I was ecstatic; the first thing that came to mind was the Korean drama Winter Sonata; are you familiar with these guys? This is one of the most well-known and popular Kdramas I've seen. If you haven't seen it yet, you can always look it up on YouTube. Nami Island is one of the locations where this Kdrama was shot. Our second adventure in South Korea began with a visit to Nami Island. We booked the Nami Island tour through Klook; if you are unfamiliar with this app, you can get it from the Google Play or Apple App Store.

We paid 1,815.45 PHP it's $32.52 USD or 42,261.39 KRW. We used Fatima's credit card to book the Nami Island tour and it's inclusion is a transportation from Myeong-dong Station to Nami Port and back and forth. Our call time is 7:30 a.m., so we pushed ourselves to get up early because we slept late and had a terrific time wandering at night. We were really enthusiastic to tour Nami Island, and we were even early. We intended to have some coffee, but the coffee shop nearby was still closed, so we went to the pick up place anyway. We thought we were the only ones in the car, but there were four other tourists, two of which were Filipinos and the other two were British. The other Filipino tourists had booked a tour to Petite France, another popular tourist attraction in South Korea, but we did not take that tour and instead chose Nami.

We were extremely chatty inside the car, and I was really enjoying it; the other two tourists were enjoying our company as well, maybe because we share a culture, and we even asked the other two to start chatting. It was raining lightly when we arrived at Petite France, and we walked outside to look out the scenery. The other two tourists went to register, but they were concerned since it was raining and both of them were a bit older, and they were scared it might be slippery. They decided not to pursue and we just took a photo though it's raining. After taking several pictures, we returned to the car and drove to Nami Port. It was about 10:30 when we arrived, and we were all hungry except for the other two; we insisted on getting some food because we hadn't had breakfast and wanted to have enough energy to explore the island. Our driver suggested that we eat before we leave; we asked for a good location to eat, and the driver knew just the place. We invited the driver to join us for lunch, but he politely declined, stating that he was still full. To be honest, the food was worth it, but I'll have to talk about that experience in the next blog post.

We didn't have to wait in line because we already had a ticket bought online, so we just showed the QR code and presented our passport upon entering the gate where we had to show our ticket. We were extremely excited after passing the inspection, but the ferry was full. They assured us that there will be a ferry every 10 minutes, so we didn't have to wait long. We entered the ferry and walked upstairs to enjoy the view. We snapped some photos and had a great time. We reach at Nami Island in just 5 minutes. We thought, "Wow, that was quick!"

We know the island is safe since it is police-surrounded and secure. Upon our arrival, we were astounded by the sheer number of tourists; while the visitors are a mixed race, the majority are Koreans. I was astounded by their genuine love and acceptance of their culture as well as their support of the local tourist attraction. We wandered around and were captivated, and Nami Island comes with a few coffee shops and a restaurant section where you can buy food. We were surprised by the weather, and as we walked about the area, we noticed that some of the restaurants reflected their culture.

The island is so large that we were unable to finish roaming it; we were too occupied taking in the scenery and taking photos when we can. We found several bunnies and other animals and it makes us so happy; it may be too shallow for others, but it's an opportunity for us to enjoy it after a visa process and some bad situations that made us think we wouldn't make it.

I will have to conclude my blog and write a second part; I intended to tell you about the rest of this adventure, but I am currently exhausted from packing a few items to return to our province. We'll catch up next time, and we hope you'll stick around for the next part.
