Hello everyone. One of the most beautiful places we visited in Georgia was undoubtedly Kazbegi. Although this region is officially called Stepantsminda since a name change in 2007, many people still refer to it as Kazbegi out of habit. This area is known for its stunning nature and breathtaking mountain scenery. The town is situated at the foot of Mount Kazbek. We stayed here for three days in a cozy mountain cabin. It took us about three hours to reach Kazbegi from Tbilisi and the journey cost just 15 GEL per person.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the sight of charming mountain cabins surrounded by lush greenery. This place feels like a slice of heaven. Walking toward our cabin I couldn’t help but think it was one of the most beautiful spots we had seen in months. It took us just 5–10 minutes to walk from the main road to the cabins and as soon as we arrived, we were captivated by the panoramic beauty around us.

The complex known as Mtachy Mountain Cabins, offers incredible 360-degree views. There are two large, two-story cabins equipped with amenities like hammocks, photo spots, picnic tables, barbecue areas and even a sandpit for children.

The cabin we rented for three days cost 85 euros per night for two people, but it can accommodate up to eight guests, with additional charges for extra people. From the terrace we enjoyed spectacular views. Sipping coffee or tea in the mornings and soaking in the scenery was a magical experience. At night the area is beautifully lit, resembling a festive Christmas setting.

Inside the cabin was cozy and welcoming, featuring a living room, a kitchen and a dining table. Panoramic windows allowed us to enjoy the scenery from every corner. The cabin was stocked with essentials, including a TV, coat racks and a large suitcase filled with blankets. The area can get chilly, so we had packed warm clothes.

Venturing outside we were in awe of the surrounding beauty. We went on a hike through Kazbegi and discovered that horseback riding tours are also available at the cabins. I love horseback riding and hadn’t ridden in three years, so experiencing it again amidst these incredible views was unforgettable.

We also learned that Kazbegi is the birthplace of the famous Georgian dish Khinkali. Interestingly locals here prefer to pair Khinkali with beer instead of wine.

As we continued our hike the scenery reminded me of Switzerland. It’s a place that makes you appreciate nature and your roots even more. For those who live in busy cities, Kazbegi feels like an otherworldly paradise.

After a 10-minute walk we reached the center of Kazbegi, a small but charming town with cafes, restaurants, a SPAR supermarket and currency exchange offices. If you plan to barbecue, you can easily find everything you need at the local markets. We decided to end our day with a meal at a lovely restaurant.

Kazbegi is a destination that combines natural beauty, comfort and a touch of adventure, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil retreat.

We found a restaurant with panoramic views. It had received excellent reviews and was the perfect place to dine with a view of the mountains. With every step we took along the way, we discovered new beauties. If you love nature, hiking and a peaceful environment, Kazbegi is definitely the place for you.

During our journey we decided to visit a nearby waterfall. At first it seemed larger, but as we descended, the view became breathtaking. From this angle, Kazbegi’s full beauty was revealed. Small houses, hotels and facilities were lined up along the path.

We stumbled upon this place by pure chance and it felt like a stroke of luck to be here. After seeing a post on social media I showed it to my friend. And my friend immediately said, We absolutely must go. It wasn’t initially part of our plans. We walked a few minutes along the river with panoramic views of Kazbegi and eventually, we reached a restaurant with a stunning view. We couldn’t wait to try some delicious Georgian dishes. The menu included khachapuri, khinkali and many more mouthwatering options. The views from the restaurant's windows were mesmerizing.

We decided to eat on the outdoor terrace because the sun was setting, the air had cooled and the wind had started to blow. Tasting the food while gazing at the scenery was an amazing experience. We selected dishes from Georgian cuisine, including khachapuri, khinkali and meat dishes. Everything was not only delicious but also elegantly presented. The chef’s special khachapuri, served with a glass of white Georgian wine, was particularly fantastic.

The next day after breakfast, we gathered supplies for a barbecue. However, we were a bit concerned about whether the wood we bought would be enough. Against all odds we managed to light the fire. The preparation of the shashlik resulted in perfectly cooked meat. Dining with Georgian brandy and enjoying the stunning natural views made this meal one of the best outdoor experiences we’ve ever had.

Afterward we tried Georgian wines at a hotel. We experienced traditional Georgian wine-drinking methods, including drinking wine from a horn.
