A Lovely Walk Around Carsington Reservoir

in Worldmappin2 years ago (edited)

We paid another another visit to Carsington Reservoir. The weather was reasonably ok apart from being a little chilly. There's quite a few benches on the way if you want a breather or to look at the view, including the Valve Tower in the middle of the lake that controls the flow of water.

We did a longer walk today, including a lap of the lake and along the dam. It was nice to have firm footpaths underfoot instead of muddy fields. It's less effort not having to get your feet out of the sludge.

There are numerous water sport courses for both adults and children, including sailing, canoeing and paddleboarding. We stayed on terra firma though.

We saw different kinds of birds on this visit including the wheatear (above), which I've never seen before.

Even with all the water around, the Canada geese usually feed on land rather than in the water.

It's a beautiful reservoir, and there are plenty of different walks on offer depending on your ability. Or you can just sit and watch the birds near the cafe have a good feed!

Reminds me of a reservoir we visited in Kent where they also had an area for sailing etc. we’ve got a few lakes around here as the M4 is nearby and where they excavated grit fit the motorway all of those years ago, they became lakes. We’ll be doing more walks around them, will take photos and notes!

I'm lucky as I like walking, so I go out most days, even if it's just around the duck ponds! I look forward to seeing your photos.

I’ll get a walk in today, see what I can find

Go get 'em! 😁

Brawlers-sparrows.
There are often such battles outside my window at the bird feeder. Some greedy guy or girl will sit on the feeder and won't let anyone in. I made 2 feeders and I also scatter seeds in the snow. It is now dense and the seeds are clearly visible to birds.

There was lots of food for all of them, but they still had to fight.

Wow the are amazing photos.
My favorite is the last one. Those birds are eager to feast on that food😄

It was a free for all!

So cute birds, you clicked an amazing lovely photos of nature.

The scenery is really beautiful, combined with the birds that are good to see and really enjoy, please join the fun, friends.

Thank you @ahleap. 💖
