Oh just to be clear that this is not from my experiences as I heard from my friends who applied for the visa to do some volunteer works several years ago. She mentioned at that time she was single and didn't have valuable assets to convince them. She said they were worry she might stay illegal after her visa expires.

Oh okay, I understand. As North America has been considered the land of entrepreneurial and employment opportunities, many non-US citizens have been trying their best to gain entry into the country. However, some foreign nationalities have been abusing their access for several years and have migrated to the USA without proper documentation since it opened its borders. As a result, the American government has been on the relentless hunt for illegal migrants - indirectly affecting other visa applicants with no ill intentions. Let's hope that in the near future, all concerned processes would be ironed out well.
