The Wonotobo falls is an impressive area that consists of a special collection of waterfalls in the Courantyne river in Sipaliwini district, Suriname near the border with Guyana. This collection of waterfalls differ in height and strength, such as the Blue Crane Fall, the Dutchman Fall, the Frenchman Fall, the Englishman Fall and the three kilometers long Wonotobo falls. This really is the place to be for adventurous nature lovers where they will have an unforgettable experience. There is also a pre-Columbian petroglyph site to be located near the falls.
The trip to the Wonotobo falls takes about one-and-a-half days, where you drive for four hours from the capitol city Paramaribo to the western city called Nickerie just beside the border of Suriname and Guyana. After arriving in Nickerie you get into a small boat (a canoe with a motor on the back of it), where you go for about two-and-a-half hours to three hours on this boat to a place called Apura, one of the Native American villages in the Courantyne river, to make a stop and rest. After this stop you get back on the boat to go to Cawfalls where you will be spending the night. Throughout this whole day you will see impressive nature with large sandbars in the middle of the river, beautiful rock formations in it running water cause a waterfall effect. The next day you get back on the boat to make your way to the Wonotobo Falls.
This site is very relaxing because of the smell and sight of pure nature around you and the sound of the falls coming down with the stream. You can also just feel the sensation of the small water droplets touching your skin.
Overall, it is a tremendously relaxing and calming experience to just sit there in a canoe (or standing on some rocks there) or take a dip in the fresh water between rocks next to the falls for half an hour to an hour to just take it all in.
Here are some of the photo's made of the Wonotobo falls.

Here we took a quick stop to take a quick swim because of the hot weather, but even though we stopped somewhere random it still was a beautiful sight. This is Suriname for you.
