RE: Visiting The Zoo

I understand how walking in the sand and rocks can improve foot health because I’ve seen something that works on a similar principle here. People are advised to put these soft spiky rubber bands at the tips of their motor bike brakes because they improve circulation in the hands.

In one of my classes with the medical students here, we discussed some ways to improve health in older people and something like this came up. Apparently, walking barefooted improves circulation in your feet and allows for more blood to nourish the bones and nerves in the foot. Based on this, it was also suggested that older people should wear sandals with a little bit rough insides, as those will stimulate and improve circulation in the sole of the feet. I don’t have any pictures of those type of sandal on my phone right now but maybe I’ll show you sometime when I come across any.

I was pleased to see the insect hotel was still there

This is my first time hearing insect hotel. I almost asked if you came up with the name yourself.

The Mantled Guereza looks very sad in the first photo. You can almost tell by the look on it’s face.

Sort:

Foot massage has a lot of health benefits and not only by coincidence.

This says it all.

Years ago I had a pair or wooden slippers, something similar like the one above, but the sole was made of wood. It was so cool, I loved it, but the upper part, the most important for the massage was made of rubber and after a decade it became sticky and had to throw it away. Maybe it's time to buy a new pair. These are not cheap though.

You are right, the Mantled Guereza looked sad, but maybe it was just his face expression by default.

Nope, it's not my idea. It's very common here, you can also buy these structures to hang them out in the garden and give home to the bees and insects.

That footwear is exactly what I was looking to show you. They’re very cheap around here though because despite the health benefit, people don’t really like it. Also, the ones that I’ve seen are made entirely of rubber, not just the upper part in contact with the sole.

Scholl is a well known brand and also high quality. The upper part is made to genuine leather. It's expensive but it is for a reason. Rubber can't hold your weight properly, you need a solid lower part, for which wood is perfect.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. The rubber designed-wears here normally flatten out in a short time span and the under eats away fast because of friction in movement.
