Lake Bafa // A Bouldering Trip in a Beautiful Nature

in Worldmappin4 years ago

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted here, and this is why! I was gone for a little while, to do some rock climbing (Bouldering) with my friends...

Lake Bafa has been a home for many civilizations and officially declared as a nature reserve named Lake Bafa Nature Park, which is located in Southwest Turkey, Muğla Province. Quite close to Latmos Mountains and a very popular holiday spot, Bodrum. Lake Bafa is famous for its bird sanctuaries, hiking, and Bouldering. And of course, there are plenty of ancient ruins around... You don't even have to search for them, they are literally on your way...

What is Bouldering?

Bouldering is a form of rock climbing. You don't use any ropes or harnesses, so it's a free climbing form. It is the most popular form of climbing worldwide, partly because you only need a climbing shoes, chalk, and a crashpad (a portable mat to secure your fall). Because you don't use any rope, it is mostly performed on boulders that are 4-5 meters long.
For climbers, Lake Bafa is a big opportunity with huge potential. It has a slight disadvantage though: Holds are pretty sharp and can easily cut your fingers! So you have to be careful with that :)

Wooh looks fun! The place is awesome too. The crash pad is reassuring though I personally want ropes being held by somebody.
