My photos today for #wednesdaywalk were taken while I was at the Fisherman's Park at the Conowingo in Harford County, Maryland.
The Fisherman's Park area is not very big and I would say the area is approximately four blocks long. There is a fenced area right by the Conowingo Dam that is usually open but on this particular visit the gates were closed so that area was off limits.
We headed out of the house pretty early as my husband and I planned on watching the sunrise at a nearby location but we just missed it so decided that we would take the long ride out to the Conowingo Dam area in Darlington, Maryland. Darlington is also part of Harford County.
The morning was quite cloudy but sometimes some clouds can make for a stunning sunrise. Although we didn't see the sun rise, we still got to see some beautiful scenery once we got out to the Conowingo.
As you can see, there appeared to be a battle going on with the sun and the clouds. I'm still not too sure which one won out at the end of the day. I think possibly it was a tie but they both worked beautifully together!
I had to be careful because there was some snow a couple of days before and from the melting and refreezing a lot of that snow was now ice.
The ice wasn't too bad along most of the Fisherman's Park area but the closer we got towards the Heritage Greenway Trail, at the opposite end of the Conowingo Dam, the ice was a lot worse. I'll be showing more photos of that in a later post though. I love this next photo and the way the sunlight gave the water a golden glow. I know it's hard to see in the photo but there were a few geese hanging out in the "glow".
Here is a photo of two of those geese in the sparkly golden water!
They weren't the only birds I saw while there but I wasn't able to get many photos of the other ones. I heard and saw several eagles but they were mostly too fast for me or were just plain facing the wrong way. If only he would turn around ...
... well .. he didn't turn around but he did turn just enough and I'll take that!
I did, actually, see and get photos of two other eagles along the trail but, as I said, they were along the Heritage Greenway Trail and they were perched way up high and one was also pretty far away. It was pretty cool to hear their call from high up in the sky! I also got this photo of an eagle's nest which was pretty far away but I did take it from where I stood in the Fisherman's Park.
There were also some Black Vultures which were perched way up in the trees. Sometimes they are on the ground but not today. This was the best photo that I could get of them. It really didn't help not being able to keep the camera still from shivering. They didn't seem too interested in having their photos taken either.
This is another view of where those geese had been hanging out. I've photographed this particular spot before with the fascinating circle-ish display of rocks. It still fascinates me too!
Right about now the sun was rising higher in the sky and the clouds appeared more prominently so here are my last two photos of my chilly yet beautiful morning.
I put my cameras away right here so I could concentrate on getting across this huge pathway of ice. These trailers aren't normally here and I wondered why they were but I'm guessing not as many people walk the trail in Winter and I suppose something is being worked on at the dam. I believe the ice is mostly from people walking on the snow and packing it down. That made my next walk along the Heritage Greenway Trail a bit more challenging and I almost decided not to go further on but I did. I walked real slow and held onto a sleeve till I got to an area where I could walk on the side of the trail where the snow hadn't been packed down and there were even some spots further down the trail that were clear. A few of my photos above were taken when we got back from the trail and back into the Fisherman's Park area so I did make it back in one piece. Really tired but really happy I went! 💖
Sorry, I just didn't want to end my post with a photo of some trailers so I did one edit on the first photo. Hope you don't mind! Lol.. I think the sun came out looking like a portal of some kind.😎

I love how many bald eagles make the bay their home. I plan on posting a fourth of July set where we were graced by a whole family of bald eagles on the eastern shore. Great work. Have a !BEER
Thanks so much @thethoughtpolice!! I can just imagine how wonderful that was to have a whole family of eagles nearby and that would certainly make a great post! 💖

A lovely outing Dee at the Fisherman's Park at the Conowingo. 💞 Not only the photos with the sun over the water were great but you captured geese, eagle, vultures and a nest.
Tip.
Thank you very much Jo!! I got a little bit of variety in that visit..lol. I was really happy with how some of the photos showed up. I had lots of photos of the eagle but most were too blurry to use. The geese sure did look pretty on the water. 😊💕

Thank you very much @kohsamui99!! I was thrilled when I got home and got a look at my photos. I rarely do that while I'm out. I just take lots of photos and hope for some good ones..lol. I'm especially happy that the Eagle came out as I had a lot that didn't. It is always great to see the Eagles out there even if I don't get a photo of them. 💕
