Hi Hive friends and worldmappin community, I'm super happy to show you one of my most recent trips to a beautiful and amazing place. It took my boyfriend and I a short time to plan it but it was the right and perfect decision.

In Astún, a place located in the north of Spain there is a ski resort, it has a chairlift that allows you to go up to the mountain and start a great trip at 2144 meters high.

Our plan was to do the Route of the 7 lakes or glaciers that is on the border between Spain and France, it would be approximately 14 kilometers, but because of the time, we only decided to visit the first ones. Also that we do not have the physical condition required for such a route but our goal was to pass into French territory.

We started by taking a bus from Jaca, a town located in Huesca, where it would take us to Astún, where the chairlifts that would facilitate our ascent to the mountain were located. It was about 45 minutes on the bus while you are watching beautiful natural landscapes that you will fall in love with.

The ascent on the chairlift was great, I had never seen so many mountains and beautiful landscapes at such a height, approximately 10 minutes were necessary to appreciate the beautiful view before starting the great hike. We started this great adventure at 9:20 am.

When we got off the chairlift, you could look at a map that showed you the location of each lake and the route to take to get there and enjoy the view of each one. But previously we had been given another paper map that was our guide, it had the kilometers between each lake and the approximate time it could take you to get there.

It even pointed out which ones were inside Spain and which ones were already in French territory. It was very helpful since we didn't want to use the phone and live the whole experience as backpackers haha.

The first lake that had the name Ibón de truchas was located behind the chairlift, we did not look at it at the beginning because we thought that at the end as we had to return, it was better to enjoy it more calmly, so we headed at once to lake #2 it took us about 25 minutes. Anyway, here are some pictures I took of lake #1.

It was quite difficult to start the hike, we were just beginning the journey and our legs had to get used to the rockiness and the inclined planes we had to walk. There were very few people but when we arrived there was nothing missing but the view of the beautiful lake at our first stop. I was super amazed at such scenery, I had never experienced anything like it.

There were two options for the tour, one called the Pico de los monjes which was the longest, and another shorter and simpler but both directed you to the same destination.

Continuing to the next lake which was Lac Casterau, we had already passed into French territory, and only a notice in that language let you know that you were welcome to France, the regulations and some rules in a standard size notice with a few signs of the route.

I found a rock on a top that gave me an incredible view, we began to see some people on the road, we were not alone, and I could not miss the moment to take a picture on this incredible stone, without a doubt one of my favorites of the trip, although the landscape is not appreciated from behind as my eyes saw it, it will be a beautiful memory.

Our guidebook indicated that it was 1.3 kilometers to the next lake, which would be approximately 38 minutes walking, I would say a little more since I was really very quiet enjoying every detail of the landscape and the mountains. I had no idea if I could go in for a swim, the water, although very cold, looked delicious. But as there was no one in the mood to go in, I didn't want to risk it. By now it was 11:10 am and we had a lot of walking to do.

For the next lake, we had to make a necessary stop, our knees were a little sore, the ride is honestly not easy at all, climbing mountains on slippery and rocky roads at the same time, it is quite a complicated task and requires a lot of care.

We sat in front of the Lac Bersau, this was one of the largest half way up compared to the previous ones and the ones we had yet to visit, it reflected the Midi D'Ossau peak, honestly they are views that do not disappoint and are totally worth the whole hike.

There were many animals on the road, I had to be very careful, although they were in their natural habitat, you walked very close to them and I know they were very used to receive our visit, but I am a believer that animals feel the fear of people and unconsciously can attack, so I tried to walk calmly and look at them relaxed while I photographed them. Sheep, goats, cows and horses, all very beautiful.

At this lake we sat down to have a snack, rest a bit and read while we watched the beautiful scenery and relaxed a bit. So much so that we let ourselves go and the time flew by. We felt very exhausted and decided to go back calmly. Although we missed 3 more lakes that were a little closer, we were afraid of missing the bus back home, so we didn't want to risk it. But we promised to come back and finish it because we already know half of the way.

When we got back to the chairlift, we ordered something to drink in a restaurant that was there, it had a nice view and everyone ended up celebrating their hike at the end of the day with a beer. It was the best hike of my life, I would definitely repeat it and I would make sure to go with more time to be able to finish it and see all the Ibones de Ayous that make it up.

I hope you enjoyed my post as much as I enjoyed writing it for you, and if you ever decide to visit this beautiful natural park, I just give you these tips: Take trekking poles, comfortable or special mountain shoes, clothes that protect you from both sun and rain and last but not least don't forget hydration at hand.

Thanks for read.💕Gracias por leer.
