Hi bloggers,
It is me, Clara, again. Today, I would like to tell you about my unforgettable trip which happened during my last year Christmas holiday. Thanks to this trip, I have learnt to stay positive and how to react to unexpected situation happened in life.
I had made the trip to visit a close friend and enjoy my discovering life after a whole year of studying and working. My trip started from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo, Queenstown, Naseby and Roxburgh. Then I would travel back to Christchurch by bus.
The beginning was amazing. I had wonderful pictures and cherish moments with my friends at Lake Tekapo and Queenstown.
Then we traveled to Danseys Pass Hotel at Kyeburn Diggings, Naseby. Naseby is a very small village which located in the middle of Central Otago Region. The population is just around 120 people, but, it could rise up to 5000 people in summer during harvesting time. So, the place in my eyes were completely empty and quite.
I arrived Danseys Pass Hotel safe and sound. Everything started to change by the last night of 2020. The rain started to be heavier and we did not know that the storm was coming. By morning of 1/1/2021, the hotel owner gave us the bad news, which was the road had gone cause of the flood. Everyone in the village would be stuck there until further notice.
I had to comeback to work by 7/1/2020, but I felt like "alright, I might need to stay here a bit longer and if could not comeback Christchurch by 5/1/2021, I had to postpone my working day". Then, we decided to enjoy the moment by having some good meals and drinks. It was still my holiday anyway. It is what it is and be grateful for what we have.
The 2nd day of new year, we got another bad news, which the flood had destroyed the water filter machine, so the hotel just had enough water for a week and the hotel did not have enough food for everyone. We needed to find a way to get out of the valley to the nearest town.
But you know, there is always a way. The hotel manager shared a plan that they could make a way to get out of the valley, but everyone must left they car at the hotel, the passengers needed to take their important luggages and walked through the road which was the river by the flood. Then, the people around the valley would drive all passengers to the nearest town and we could take bus from there to Cromwell.
Again, we needed to make quick decision, we called all of our relationships in Roxburgh and Queenstown so they could pick us up from Naseby town center by the morning 3/1/2021. Then, afternoon of the same day, the weather was a bit better, we left the place. The pictures below shows what happened after we left the place for an hour. We were very lucky.
The more I travel, the more I can see the world, and I realise that I am so small. I had learnt that, you could not control what happened to your life, but you can manage your attitude to it. Although, the storm had changed our plan but we could not deny that we had a best time with our friends who worked there. And we learnt to be happy for everything we had even in the bad time as long as we have friends.
Thanks to Hive, I can share my story as telling with my close friends. <3. And thanks for reading my story.

Sorry to hear about the flood. An unexpected situation like that while traveling gets ingrained in our memory. Love how you took this situation and found some gems of wisdom from it.Hello @clarahuynh, at first glance of the cover photo, Lake Tekapo is immediately recognizable. The unusual color just gives it away.
