Hi @worldmappin community and Hivers friends who love travel! I’m excited to share another unforgettable journey filled with memories that last a lifetime. Last May 25, 2024, I had the opportunity to visit the iconic island of Boracay, one of the Philippines most celebrated travel destinations. Known for its powdery white sand, crystal-clear shoreline and unforgettable sunset views. Boracay continues to stand as a symbol of tropical beauty and relaxation.

Traveling from Cebu to this world famous island was smooth and convenient. The flight from Cebu to Caticlan took around 1 hour, followed by a short land transfer to the jetty port and finally a 10–15 minutes boat ride to the island itself. The whole trip felt seamless and each step built even more excitement for the experience that awaited.

Upon arriving in Boracay, I was immediately welcomed by the stunning scenery of White Beach. The island’s natural beauty remains its strongest asset: long stretches of soft white sand, gentle waves moving rhythmically along the shore and tall palm trees swaying in the breeze. The vibrant colors of the sunset painted the sky in breathtaking shades of orange, pink and purple a sunset so beautiful it truly captured my heart. Each moment felt calm , warm and unforgettable.

Before fully entering the island all visitors are required to pay several fees that support Boracay’s preservation efforts. These include the Environmental Fee of ₱300 and a Terminal Fee of ₱150, which contribute to maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the island. These fees are essential in ensuring that Boracay continues to be a well-protected environment despite the increasing number of tourists each year. The careful management of the island is one of the reasons why its natural beauty has remained intact throughout time.

At night, Boracay transforms into a lively beachfront filled with lights, music and open-air restaurants where tourists gather to dine and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. The lively yet relaxing ambiance creates the perfect balance between adventure and serenity.

Boracay is also rich in cultural and historical significance. Originally inhabited by the Ati people, the island was once a quiet fishing community before being discovered by travelers in the 1970s. It's pristine beach quickly gained worldwide attention, eventually placing it on the list of the world’s best island destinations. Today, Boracay continues to thrive not only because of tourism but also due to the efforts of the local community and environmental programs. During my visit, I saw the creative sand sculptures proudly displaying the name “Boracay” and the date, as well as the colorful shops selling handcrafted accessories, souvenirs, and local delicacies. The desserts and dining experiences were equally memorable, featuring a delightful variety of cakes, sweets, and local dishes. Every corner of Boracay from the beach to the boutiques to the restaurants had something beautiful and enjoyable to offer. These small but meaningful elements reflect the artistry and hospitality of the people who call Boracay home.

One of the highlights of the trip was the island-hopping experience. Riding a boat across the turquoise waters offered a refreshing perspective of Boracay’s surrounding landscapes. We passed by small islets, rock formations, and lush greenery that added to the tropical charm of the journey. My visit reminded me why Boracay remains one of the Philippines’ crown jewels: it is a place where relaxation, adventure, culture, and natural beauty come together perfectly.
