Hello, dear Hivers!
Today I'll share with you my ATV adventure with my family. Last Saturday was my youngest sister's 18th birthday, and we let her choose whether to celebrate it at home or go somewhere she likes. Knowing how introverted she is, I was confident that she would choose later. It was convenient for us because we no longer needed to prepare much, but we wanted to make sure that she would still enjoy her special day.
I made our itinerary after checking the tourist spots around the province of Albay, and I also checked the weather. ATV rides were one of the highlights of our itinerary; we already did this ATV adventure years ago, but this time it's more challenging because we are doing it with our kids.
The weather said there was going to be a rain shower, so when we arrived and it was blazing hot, we didn't waste any time and proceeded with the orientation before the rain came.
After paying, they let us proceed to the assembly area, where they informed us about safety, trail details, and the guide's hand signal. Dos and don'ts were also included in the orientation.
There were different kinds of trails being offered, and my brother, knowing how adventurous he is, chose the summit trail that will take us closer to Mt. Mayon, but since we are riding with kids, two of them toddlers, it was impossible because the summit trail will take more or less 5 hours to ride. To be safe, we chose the moderate trail, which is the Cagsawa trail, which will take more or less an hour.
After the orientation, our guide lets us wear our helmet and pick up our ATV unit. My eldest son immediately ran towards the blue ATV because it's his favorite color. After settling in our chosen ATV, we started riding, and so the rain started showering. What a great timing!
As the ride began, our adrenaline started to spike. We crossed rivers a few times, and for me, it was the most enjoyable part. We could feel the cold water splashing on our feet as we crossed the river.
We have encountered a few challenges along the way to the end of our trail. My eldest switched units twice because his AV suddenly stopped and got stuck in the middle of the trail, and the second one ran out of gasoline, but our guide was riding two backup units just in case the same scenario happened, so he was able to continue riding towards the end of the trail.
When we reached the end of the trail, we were asked to pose for a photo. On a clear day, the background will be the majestic, perfect cone-shaped volcano Mt. Mayon, but since it was raining, it was hidden in thick clouds. We gamely posed for a photo nonetheless. We definitely enjoyed the experience.
Part of the service of the guide was taking great photos and being a videographer to document the whole adventure all I did was handing out my phone. I gave them a tip for not dropping my mobile phone because our way back to the starting point was extra challenging as the rain started to pour heavily.
Above is the last photo of us being dry as we were drenched in rain water after. We immediately head to the lobby to dry the kids and get changed.
It was definitely a fun adventure, and we will surely do it again. There are a few more things they offer, like a zipline and a skywheel ride.
Thank you for joining me on our adventure, and I hope you enjoyed watching the video.
Bye!
