It is also very difficult for Venezuelans to obtain a visa from that country. I remember that in 2011, my wife and I applied for a tourist visa. They gave it to me, but it was denied to her. Thanks to that, we had to change travel plans, but thank goodness we hadn't bought air tickets. 😀
Authentic courage, patience, and strength absolutely came in handy for me during those critical moments. Or else, the American immigration officials would have doubted me if I panicked and displayed suspicious behaviors in the airport. And the most challenging part of that trip was that I happened to arrive at the exact location where the horrific tragedy took place - in New York City. Thus, paranoia was simply rampant with the locals there as a way to safeguard themselves from further damage.
