Hi adventurous people of Hive, today I'm gonna share our spontaneous escapade that led us to the beautiful random beaches and some activity of the locals on the coast of Medellin.ποΈπ
It was a lovely bright day when my husband and I set for another adventure on the road. We had so much time last weekend, that we decided to waste some of it by exploring new places and getting some wind kissing on our faces. After all, it is said that time you waste enjoying is not time wasted, so why not grab our helmets and bags, ride the bike and go find that somewhere?
And Yes! I just had another wonderful journey last week! An escapade to the Coast of Medellin!
MEDELLIN, CEBU
Medellin is one of the most interesting places in the Northern part of Cebu Province. It has gained attraction because of its beautiful beaches, Golf Course, and all the other accommodations it offers. It is 120 kilometers (Wikipedia) away from the heart of Cebu City, roughly 3-4 hours travel by bus. This town is popularly known for its hashtag ("#") #FANTASTIC. If you hear about FANTASTIC ISLAND of MEDELLIN, that's one of the town's pride!
So welcome to this simple yet fantastic tour of us!π€π
We entered this narrow road full of houses on each side. As we were passing by, I had doubts if we could discover a scenic view of the beach in this place. I was sure that we would only see lines of houses beside the beach and the not-so-clean seashore. Nonetheless, I remained silent and waited for that little corner that would surprise us with a great view. Viola!!! we found it!
πFirst Stop.
What a BOATiful view!
We were delighted to finally found a corner to stop by, sit for a while, and enjoy the scenery that this simple beach showed us. I don't know ( maybe it's only me), but I felt contented and at peace seeing a view of a boat on the seashore. In fact, I have collections of pictures of it sitting in my gallery. For me, those boats give more life and variance to the beach. Luckily the beach spot we found and stopped by has plenty of boats docked on the seashore.
This boat caught my attention because of its bright color. The orange perfectly complements the white and blue color of the boat's base. I also noticed that this boat has a solar panel that gives power to its two lamps.
I saw another two lovely blue boats, one is smaller than the other. Judging its use by the look at it, I think the small one is just for fun fishing or for one-time eating of fish catch. While the other one is for business maybe, like selling their catch to the market or the neighborhood, and if this boat sails, it stays in the ocean overnight or for a couple of days.π€What do you think?
See? This is what I love about our random stops over our spontaneous travel, it made me think, observed the little details, and appreciate all the things I saw.
Another beautiful view is this small bright red and orange color boat. Seeing how small it is floating on top of the huge beach gives me a sense of humility.
Look what this beach got? It has a bamboo bench at the entrance. I bet many stopped at this beach too to enjoy and swim more so sightseeing.
As I looked around, I saw this corner of a shade of a tree. Here families or groups of friends can squat for food picnics while watching the kids swimming and playing.
πSecond stop.
My husband went straight driving after our first stop when suddenly I saw this boat construction in the corner of my eye. I was always amazed at how the boat can float (thanks for buoyancy) but I am more curious about the construction side of the boat. How it is made to perfectly balance itself in the ocean knowing that its bottom is not flat? Shipbuilders must be very brilliant with all the Math and Engineering going on while building the ship.
I half screamed "Stop!", and my husband automatically complied. And there I was, staring at the wonderful construction!
This ship is huge compared to other local shops in the town. I wonder if is this for fishing or island tourist transport. I saw how complex its framework is and how much wood it needs!
ποΈOnto the next stop.
After staring at it, we proceed to our journey. Along the way, we observed that there are plenty of private beach resorts in this part of Medellin. We passed CLM Beach resort and Chai resort. I wanna take note of these beaches for recommendations for our future family outings. Eheh!
πThird Stop.
We passed this drying fish process in the town. Fishing is of course the main source of income in the town. Fishermen sell directly their catch to the market, however, some fishermen dried the fish first before selling it because dried fish cost more expensive than fresh ones (depending on its kind and size).
To dry the fish, the fish are laid bare under the heat of the sun. Fishermen must watch and turn upside down the fish one by one to achieve the best result. They must also watch over the weather and keep all the fish at night, and dried them again the next day to complete the drying process.
We drove again, thinking that was the last beautiful thing we will see in that part of the town.
πLast but never least stop.
Before we found our exit in the narrow street of this Coastal Barangay, we discovered this lovely local port full of small boats! We saw some locals swimming and preparing their boats for fishing.
The harbor is simply just like any other local port, but the beautiful beach, the bright sky, and the boats made the view scenic and wonderful.
Watching the beautiful view and the activities going on, made me love the simplicity of life even more!
As soon as we left the coastal area, we were greeted by this green and lush scenery. How peaceful and quiet life is there.
Tall Amusing Pines
When we reached the National Road, we passed by the tall pine trees of Medellin. These Pine trees serve as a fence for a famous Korean Golf Course in the town.
This pine has become famous for photo shoots like prenup wedding shoots and debut shoots. What a wonderful journey we had! I had the chill and the excitement the whole time. From beaches to pines! π
That's the end of our spontaneous tour on the coast of Medellin!
